:wave2: everyone,

We're thinking of changing our dates, again. I think dh will do better in somewhat cooler temps (as opposed to going in Sept.), plus he'll swim any any kind of weather. :)

Really considering going next year in November (or possibly October). Is it very rainy then? are the crowds okay? Also when is the Food and Wine Festival and is that something neat to experience? This will be our first visit to WDW and I want it to be real special for us. Thanks in advance everyone!
:sunny: :goodvibes :cool1:

I went in November last year, but missed the F&W Festival by a few days, so I can't comment on that. The weather was perfect. High 80 during the day, low 50's at night. It did not rain once the entire time we were there (8 days) and the crowds were comparatively light. We were there the week before Thanksgiving. Crowds were much heavier on the weekends, but even then they weren't too bad.

november is a great time to go, but avoid thanksgiving. were leaving for another november trip next sunday. the weather is nice in the upper 70s little or no rain, crowds are small, except the weekends with the f&w festival & soups weekend, the f&w festival is neat, there are seminars, tastings, etc.

We go in Novemeber every year. i have gone at other times of year and I prefer Novemeber. The weather is perfect. High 80's, still swimming weather, especailly since most pools are heated for night swimming. Crowds are low. Out of the last 8 yrs or so it only rained 1 day on our whole vacation.

he, he, 2 days!! :cool1:

We were there last year at the very beginning of Nov and we couldn't have asked for better weather. Infact, we were so spoiled, we are not sure that we would go any other time! :goodvibes

Hmmm, that sounds like it might be a great time to go. I think dh would love that kind of weather, too. For some reason -and trust me--I know little about DW, I thought the F&W festival was only in Oct... that would be neat if it extends til Nov.

I've even thought of taking a quarter off at school as we have never taken a vacation since we were married (7 years)! I don't want our first time at DW to be a time when when the weather is so hot (can get that here) and then to have to deal with an overwhelming amount of crowds. Plus, I'll probably be trying to convince my dh to take me back for our 10th year anniversary--which is in August, of course
Well, sorry to ramble, everyone. Decisions, decisions.

thanks again

We're making our first trip next November! :Pinkbounc We don't like heat and wanted to avoid huge crowds. :crowded:

I spoke with friends in Florida, looked at historic weather stats, and cruised the info on the Disboards. November has less rain then every other month, if I remember right, and temps seemed to be about perfect for us northern, non-humidity type folks. We're going the 9th-18th, which will put us there for the end of F&W (ya!) but also for part of Jersey week and Super Soaps weekend, but we'll work around those busy times and places.

I'm hoping November will be fabulous, but we'll be on our 1st trip to WDW; how could it be bad? :wizard:

We just spent the weekend at WDW (got back this afternoon) and the weather could not have been more perfect! Low 80s during the day and high 60s in the evening. Sunny, breezy, and gorgeous--plenty warm to swim but not too brutally hot to walk in the parks.

The Food and Wine Festival is SO much fun. This is the 3rd year in a row we've gone. There are booths set up all along the World Showcase with little samples of food for about $1.50 to $3.50, and wine, champagne, and beer from about $2.00 to $8.00 (there's always softdrinks if you don't drink alcohol). The atmosphere is very festive, everybody is friendly and smiling, and there's entertainment (musical bands, acrobats, jugglers, etc.) regualarly scheduled throughout the World Showcase.

If you don't mind waiting in line, there are free cooking seminars, wine tastings, tea tasting, etc. (we attended a Twinings tea tasting this year!). There are also numerous ticketed events ($$) such as wines paired with dinners.

There are pretty big crowds on Saturdays but the crowds aren't bad at all on other days of the week (and as I've mentioned in other threads, the crowds are never as bad as at the Magic Kingdom on Saturdays :earsgirl: ).

We are leaving Saturday :cool1: , this is our first Nov. visit and we are anticipating low crowds and great weather. Don't forget to find out when "Jersey week" is... it's going on right now- you may want to shoot for the week before T-Giving (like us) instead!

Nov is usually good just remember that park attendence has been unusually high this year, so you may run into some unexpected delays particularly with some of the newer attractions and shows.

We're going for our first family trip in 22 days and from all of my studying
the week before Thanksgiving and the week after has the lightest crowds,
although they are picking up in Nov. vs. years past. You can enjoy Christmas
decorations the week after Tgiving. Do avoid Jersey week in Nov.
Just my 2 cents.

Please...can you tell me what Jersey week is? Also, when will it be this year, for example? We had thought about maybe going in the beginning of the month, maybe. But if not, maybe dh can get the week after Thanksgiving off from work- then that would be neat, too. (He's like #12 in seniority when it comes to picking vacations days) My dd's b-day is 11/28, so that might be kinda cool. :goodvibes I was kinda looking forward to the Food and Wine Festival, though. Hmmm

I can't tell you when Jersey Week is (apparently it's a week in November when kids in NJ are out of school) but this is at least the 2nd time we've gone during Jersey Week and haven't noticed unusual crowds. We've also gone during Super Soap Weekend, various cheerleader events, Grad Night, and probably lots more events that we didn't even hear about. ;) The crowds are NOT unusually bad during any of these events! WDW is so big that these events are hardly noticeable--no reason to avoid the parks.

BIG reasons to avoid the parks if you want to avoid crowds are Spring Break, summer vacation, Christmas, and Thanksgiving. :earsgirl:

Jersey week is Election week. They schedule state school conferences that week (from what I understand, I'm not from Jersey. I just found out about it the hard way)

We were there for Jersey week on accident one time & I would definately avoid it if at all possible. We noticed a definate increase of crowds that week (we were there for 2 weeks, 1 of which was marvelous, the other, Jersey week, was crowded)When we were there at Jersey week, WDW hadn't adjusted the value season hours for the increased crowds. I did notice the past couple years that the hours were adjusted for it & probably the resort rates as well.
If a Nov. trip would put you there during Jersey Week, I would either plan late Oct. or wait til after Jersey Week to go. If you went the week after Thanksgiving, you'd miss F&WF But you'd be there for the Holiday decorations which are Spectacular!
