Can you take Disney pins on the plane?

Not only have we not had to check our pins since 9/11, we even were given a pin to add to our collection from the Southwest gate agent in Orlando. (A Sea World Shamu Southwest plane!)

DH is quite a pin shark! We usually are still wearing several, and have many more in our carry ons.

Cool score on the SW Shamu plane pin!! Years ago I saw that plane landing one time from the observation deck in Cleveland and didn't realize SW had a plane painted like that.

FYI, I don't know how "in to" pin trading you and your DH are, but among most traders being a "pin shark" is not necessarily a compliment. ;)

I don't think a straight pin could kill someone but one maybe stuck in the eye could do some damage. Also if you jabbed hard enough with a pin I am sure you would be distracted for awhile.

They stop scissors from going through. I had a pair taken that were blunt at the tip. No amount of arguing was going to change their mind so I had a decision to make. Did I want to be right or did I want to take my flight?

I took my flight. I didn't argue with them. But I know they were wrong. I clarified that later. I think I was trying more to point out the absurdity of the situation. You seem to be missing the humour and that's probably because I'm not a funny person. Scissors are sharp and common sense would tell you not to take them on a plane. The same is true for knitting needles. A poppy, however, is allowed. I think that's the point you are missing. A poppy could do about as much damage as a Disney pin or a pencil for that matter. I stab myself with my poppy almost every time I put it on and trust me, it's not very distracting. Things that should not be allowed on the plane are allowed on the plane like lighters and the shards of glass from my broken mirror. Herein lies the absurdity. Since subtlety isn't working - I FOUND THIS FUNNY.

You are right. I missed your humor. The scissors I was referring too were like childrens scissors. They were plastic and blunt nosed and could hardly cut paper but they took them.

Maybe our poppies are different than yours but here or at least the ones I have gotten had very sharp pins that they used to attach them to your clothing.

Safetymom, you are not listening to me. Whether or not you perceive a poppy to be a weapon, airport security and the government do not. I've included a photo of my razor sharp poppy for those who haven't seen one. [I'm not sure why it is appearing so large. I can't seem to fix that.]

No you are mistaken about the scissors. They are allowed on planes but I was stopped by a TSA that said they weren't allowed. Sorry you are getting so upset about the poppy.

I'm not upset about a poppy. I'm not even upset that you took a story offered for comic relief and analyzed it to death. I find the whole thing pretty humourous myself.

I have started another thread to address your claim that scissors are permitted on planes. (Keep in mind it's written tongue-in-cheek please.)

Glad to hear we are done discussing the poppy. Still don't see the humor but that's ok.
