Color me confused  The TSA website says you CAN take things like razors, cigar cutters, cuticle scissors etc. You CAN'T take razor blades. My pill splitter has a small blade like a Bic size razor would have. It's enclosed in a little plastic box. Stick the pill in, close the box and viola, the pill is cut in 2. You'd have to smash the box to get the blade out and it's only a couple inches long. There IS a medical need for it as the rx on the bottle says take 1/2 to 1 whole tablet. Can I take the splitter or not? Or should I just cut up a whole bunch of pills and leave the cutter at home because some ding dong is sure to argue with me and confiscate it and it wasn't a cheapo splitter :confused3

I'd just precut the pills, Shug. There is no sense in trying it if you really don't want to lose the cutter. You can always take two halves if you need a whole.

Pre split the pills and toss the cutter in your checked bags (or leave it at home). It isn't worth the hassle.

Why would TSA even know that you had one? I take all my medicines and medical supplies in my carryone and I run the carryon thru the machine. I have never discussed the contents with the TSA agent and do not pull anything out of my bag. Not sure how a pill spliiter would even come up in a conservation. :confused3 I have never had anyone stop my carryon or question me about the contents. Also, I never had a ding dong for TSA inspector:rotfl2:

Split them up in advance, then you can stop worrying about it.

It is the type of question that you can call and ask in advance the procede to get nailed in security.

i agree, to cut up whatever pills you need for the flight and throw the pill cutter in your checked baggage. dont make it a bigger deal than it needs to be. there are reasons why we are slightly inconvenienced these days. no need to call people names that are doing their jobs. 9/11 hijackers had plastic knives. remember???

I assume that you are checking a bag, right Shug? If it's for the meds that I assume it's for they are pretty easy to snap in two without the splitter. ;) If not, I'd put it in the checked bags and have a few already split for the trip down.
