We are cruising on the Dream soon. Can you take a lifejacket off the dream in Nassau to use at the beach. We were planning on going on our own taking a cab to one of the beaches. Thanks!

No, they cannot be removed from the ship.

You are not allowed to use the ones provided in your staterooms, only for emergencies.

You could always pack your own to use anytime you need it :) I know packing something extra is sometimes difficult but you want this to be the best memory, so sometimes the extras are worth it. In my opinion ;)

Absolutely not.

All lifejackets are to remain on the ship unless needed in a shipboard emergency!
Oh and by needed, I mean not because your going to a beach.....

Really!? :bitelip:

I wasn't asking about the stateroom jackets, but the ones that are provided at the pool.

No need to yell and be rude ....the op question had been answered twice before you responded.

Agreed! Sheesh...

We're sending a package prior to our cruise, and putting in our FE gifts, $1 store beach toys and the kids' life vests. Heck, if we can't pack the vests on the way back home they can wear them on the flight :lmao:

Love seeing that other parents are taking the precaution to have the kiddos wear life vests - as a family, it's our first time at the beach and I feel much safer knowing they'll have, literally, an extra layer of protection!!!

You would not want to use the emergency life jackets for casual recreational swimming. They are bulky, unwieldy and intended for use in emergencies only.

I've never seen that the ship provides swimming vests for children...but if they do I am sure they are not permitted to be taken off the ship...I think it's so that they provide them on Castaway Cay but I don't know if you need to pay for them or not. and that wouldn't help you in another port.

There are a couple boxes of life jackets on the beach were the waterslide is at Castaway Cay, no charge for those.

Not sure about life jackets for smaller ones that are too small for the water slide...maybe you can rent them were you get the tubes, etc?

Your welcome to your opinion.
But in my opinion, a question like that does indeed require a stern and blunt reply.

As to me replying after other's already have, they hadn't when I opened a message reply page.

Ex Techie :)

No you were just plain RUDE in your reply:sad2::sad2: You can be blunt and stern to your children to drive your point home but on this message board you are replying to another adult and that is not necessary.

And asking whether it is ok to take a life saving device/piece of equipment off a ship to use on a beach is ok for an adult to ask?

Take a second to step back and think about it.

Ex Techie.

What may be obvious to one person may not be obvious to another. The Op asked an honest question and a polite answer should have been given no need to be blunt:thumbsup2 Now you need to Take a second to step back and think about it.

OP was misinformed about the availability of life jackets at the pool. I realize that the topic title was misleading, but there is no need to beat OP over the head about this.

It probably wouldn't be too inaccurate to say that life jackets are available on CC in the form of the snorkeling PFDs. Not that they are the same thing otr would suit the OP's purpose.
