Can you switch points used within 7 month timeframe?

I have a reservation for AKV (my first home resort) in less than 7 months that I made with 2011 UY points. I'm getting ready to close on a BCV resale that has banked 2010 points. I'd prefer to use those banked points for the reservation rather than the 2011 points. Are you allowed to switch which allotment of points you want to use, or would they have to cancel the first reservation and make a new one? I'm afraid to cancel it and rebook as I could see someone snapping up my value studio in the time it takes to rebook it.

Since they aren't AKV points, they probably won't let you use them. It's kind of like getting an 11 month advantage with non-home resort points. They would probably cancel and you could very well lose your reservation if there is a wait list for those days in that category of villa.

Good point! I figured that I couldn't, but my brain was numb and I couldn't think of why it was a problem.

Just try and make a second reservation when you get the new points. If it comes through, just cancel the first. I would not cancel the first until I had the second one though.

If the reservation were made during the home resort window, the answer is no. However, you can make individual days reservations that are available, cancel those days with the current reservation and link them doing essentially the same thing.
