good FUNNY movies to rent or buy? TV just stinks so I figured I'm probably better off buying a movie. It's cheaper for us to buy a movie than rent it b/c my husband never returns it on time and the late fees get quite large, no exaggeration!

I don't know if you like Pee Wee...but I love Pee Wee's big adventure. I found it at Walmart for $5.
That is if you are talking older funny movies.

My DD and I love...It's a mad, mad, mad, mad world.
Funny!! Kind of campy at spots, but it has an all star lineup.
It is from the 60's I belive.

As far as new movies go, Austin Powers if you like sophmoric humor. I have not seen that many funny movies lately.
A friend let me borrow her Multiplicity video. It has Michael Keaton. He clones himself to make his life easier, but it messes up his life. It's okay.

Sorry I am not much help.
I am sure ther e are a bunch of movie people on here to help you more than I can

Good luck
Lisa

I was going to suggest Authur with Dudley Moore. I also like Son In Law with Pauly Shore.... or even Smokey & the bandit , old but still funny movies

Good Luck,
Lisa

The funniest movie I've seen lately is "Shallow Hal".

Another one I liked (but am ashamed to admit) is "Dumb & Dumber"!!!

Also, "Men in Black" (first one) - but most people have seen it by now!

We rented Goldmember (Austin Powers) recently, didn't care for it. But the first one was good - I can't recall the title, though.

Browse the "Comedy" section at Blockbuster - there's some really funny oldies there!

One of the funniest movies I've seen lately is "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." I think you'll really enjoy it. DH liked it too!

DH & I really enjoyed O Brother Where Art Thou and Rat Race. Rat Race was one of those movies that are so stupid they're funny. A lot of slapstick humor. Monty Python's Holy Grail is also really funny. Also, I like just about anything with Steve Martin in it, he always makes me laugh!

For newer movies we really liked My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Sweet Home Alabama. I think Catch Me If You Can is out on video now. I didn't get to see it in the theatre, but a friend told me it was good.

I also vote for My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Especially if you're from an ethnic family! You'll be able to relate (like me ~ being Italian!)

I love Legally Blonde. It starts out like a typical teenage movie BUT it is so full of humor and satire that it is a great movie!

In fact, my DD (17) and I were literally laughing out loud the other night when we caught and rewatched "Robin Hood - Men In Tights"!!! Hilarious!!!:D

:D I always laugh at these Adam Sandler movies -- The Wedding Singer, Waterboy, and Happy Gilmore. Btw, my dh is good at forgetting to return rented movies on time too. Must be a "guy thing" ;)

Yeah, what they said. But I wanted to mention Spaceballs. It's older, but still funny. Also, if you like dogs: Turner and Hooch, with Tom Hanks........and K-nine with Jim Belushi (I think!). Then there is Ice Age and Shrek that are animated, if you haven't seen them.

Target has classic comedy DVD's for $10 and $15.

I recently bought:

Raising Arizona (Nic Cage and forgot the lead actresses name)
A Fish Called Wanda (John Cleese, Michael Palin, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Kevin Kline)

Next on my list to buy is:

Moonstruck (Cher)
The Color Purple (Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah -- funny parts but not a comedy)

I'm drawing a blank....but we just rented Oscar with Sylvester Stallone.....I think it's hilarious. And pretty clean too, rated PG.

I also like Multiplicity with Micheal Keaton, funny. And Mr. Mom, that one always makes me laugh. Stephen and Kimmi love Strange Brew (you'd like it if you're into stupid humor like Monty Python). One of my all-time favorites is The Jerk with Steve Martin.

Groundhog Day is a big one.

Two not-so-well-known, but hysterical movies are "Who's Minding the Mint?" and "Midnight Madness". Movies that have you laughing until your sides are killing you. I found mine on amazon.com

I loved this movie too-you laugh every minute! Of course, any Monty Python movie is great :)

Runway Bride and My Best Friend's Wedding, both with Julia Roberts, are very funny.

I loved Zoolander with Ben Stiller and My Big Fat Greek Wedding. :)

Any of Adam Sandler's movies. They are hilarious. My faves are The Waterboy, The Wedding Singer, and Big Daddy.

Also My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Duece Bigelow, Male Gigelow, and The Spy Who Shagged Me (Austin Powers) are funny.

I would suggest Big Daddy or Happy Gilmour from Adam Sandler.

If you like your humor a little raw there is Baseketball (starring the guys who write south park) and also Saving Silverman (a must if you like Neil Diamond!)
