Can you still use a FP runner with new system?

I am trying to stay up to date on the changes to the FP system that have happened this week. Does every person have to present their ticket to get the FP, or can you still send a runner to obtain them for your group? I sure hope the runner thing still works, that will significantly inhibit our ability to collect FPs if every person has to be present!

Any info is much appreciated!!!

Runners work fine. Same as old system :)
Nothing changed with physically collecting Fastpasses. At least not yet!

One thing that has changed is that you need your ticket in hand to redeem a FP (since you scan your ticket now to redeem FP).

So while you can still use a FP runner, they can't do the running while the rest of the group is riding something they are redeeming a FP on (since the ticket will be elsewhere).

Some people have reported that they took photos of all the tickets' bar codes and used those to scan at the rides. Then the runner took the actual tickets to get more FPs. While this sounds convenient, I think it may depend on the CM at the FP return line. Some may accept the photos and some may not.

If you have the Disneyland app, you can use the ticket/annual pass barcode stored in the app rather than risking using a photo that may/may not be accepted. The barcode in the app is linked to the actual ticket/annual pass, and thus is considered equivalent for park entry and fast pass redemption, I believe.

The photo / app bar code does work.

The only downside is if you have a large party and you have to scroll through each image.
Which you get use to after a few times through.

I just looked om the app and it states you can link AP or buy tickets with the app and use the bar code to enter the parks- so you would assume the above is correct. We didn't buy our tickets through the app, so I guess we will have to wait until we have them to see if we can link them somehow?

The Disneyland App was a bit wonky in showing tickets bought online. It showed the first time but then disappeared the rest of the day.

That is how we found that taking a photo of the ticket worked just as well.

However, Annual Passes were easy to scan through the app and use for FP.

Also, you can take a screen shot of your ticket barcode that's linked through the app in case you have trouble connecting.

I thought I saw somewhere on Twitter that the Fastpass 'reminder' slips you get actually have your ticket barcode on them and can be scanned instead of your ticket. If this is true, you'd only need the reminder slip to get on the ride, while the runner can take all the tickets to get more fastpasses.

CMs are absolutely NOT allowing people to scan the reminder tickets. I have seen numerous people try and fail.

The CM at the second scan on HM last Saturday was only scanning the reminder tickets. I handed her my AP and she took the reminder ticket from my other hand. She did this with DH, too, so it wasn't an accident. Don't know if this was a glitch, a system test, clueless CM, or something else. Everything is changing so quickly now that it's hard to keep up with what is a real change and what is a temporary tweak.

Why did you hand her your AP? Does Haunted Mansion not have the touch point scanners that you do yourself? Every ride I've been on has the scanners and everyone scans their own tickets.

Why did you hand her your AP?..

We used the machine scanners at the beginning of the line, then after the switchbacks, there was a CM with a hand scanner. Whenever we encounter a CM with a hand scanner, they want our AP. This girl didn't.

When we were there on Sunday, Castmembers would go through the fastpass lines reminding (really loudly telling) guests to have out our ticket or annual pass as that is all that would be scanned and to keep it out as it would be scanned again. There is no second scan for Star Tours (at least not yet), but every other ride we rode had a second scan and they wanted our AP (or park tickets). We were very adamantly told tickets or APs only and saw no other guests using anything else.

Sounds like different days, different Castmembers, different rules!

I know... just part of the whole DLR experience! In discussing this later, we wondered if maybe she was scanning the reminder tickets to see how quickly people were using them. We used ours very shortly after obtaining it (really tempting with such short wait times). Maybe Disney management wants to see how people are spreading out their returns over the allowed period? Can they even get that info by scanning the reminder tickets? Or was it something specifically related to HM? That was the only ride all day where this happened. The other option is that the poor CM was confused and didn't know what was going on.

That's so odd. You'd think that reminder ticket was linked to your AP so they could get that info regardless.

It really was odd -- totally stood out from what we expected and had experienced on other rides. So hang on to those reminders! You never know when a CM is going to ask for it for whatever reason.

I immediately throw away the ones I get that have the instant return time. I have never been asked for them. Oh well.
