Can you still get bottled water from Concierge?

We are staying at the Poly concierge in April but I just read a post on another board that said that they were going to stop offering it - even when asked

My itinerary planner (we are staying at WL Concierge) told me that Wilderness Lodge and Poly Concierges stopped giving out bottled water, even when asked.

She said that they leave out a container of water, but you have to fill up your own bottle/glass/whatever you want to put the water in.

We returned from Polynesian concierge a week ago and my husband noticed that water bottles weren't offered anymore.

I know at the BWI concierge they still have the small bottles of water. This was perfect for us in October to mix my granddaughter's formula.

Its a harmless question lilykat and I'm not picking on you, but does it matter if water bottles are available? I've been a concierge guest several times at Disney hotels and others. At AKL concierge, I am always amazed how guests think the lounge is like their personal kitchen. I've seen guests asking for sodas and water for the parks and once saw a family of six ask for styrofoam boxes to pack up snacks for their trip to the airport! I won't even start with guests in the lounge with their robes on!

I don't quite get it, but its becoming a turn-off. I love AKL concierge - the staff is wonderful and they've helped with lots of planning and why I take advantage of the service.

They've never had water bottles out at AKL concierge when I've stayed there - but they did have them when asked - although we never asked when we were there this November. By the way, when we checked out - they did give us 7 bottles of water (1 per person, packaged in those lovely AKL bags tied with raffia, and a beautiful card wishing us a happy trip home.

We stayed at the Poly concierge this November as well - the 12th through the 16th, and not only did they have the individual bottles of water out all afternoon (although not in the morning), the concierge who checked us in encouraged us to help ourselves to soda and water from the lounge and keep it in our room fridge for times when the lounge was closed!

The funny thing is AKL concierge has milk and juices out for the kids all day - but you need to ask for soda or water bottles; while the Polynesian has soda and water bottles out all day, but you need to ask for chocolate milk or juices!

WOW I am really embarassed that people think I was asking this because I want to get a lot of something for free - other than the breakfast and the helping get PS's we don't expect to use anything else from concierge at all! :o :o As far as people taking boxes or bags of things and showing up in robes that is just very tacky and thoughtless of others.

I asked because we are still in the transportation phase and are deciding between shuttle, car service and renting a car. And how much we would be getting out of the car etc. DFH asked if we need to stop by the store and get bottled water (because we were orginally staying at AKL and we know they don't offer it. So I told him I thought that it was included at the poly (my understanding is was that is was left out to take to the parks with you) not something people were being pushing and asking for, but then saw a post and thought I would ask - because it means a grocery store stop so we probably don't want to do the shuttle.

Wow. Every time I've stayed concierge the staff has always told us to load up before going to the parks. ::yes:: AKL also (without our even asking) packed up a little care package and left it in our room the night before whe departed with bottled water, trail mix gift box, cookies, cereal.

Wow! I can't believe someone went to Disney and was upset by someone taking a few bottles of water! Maybe they needed to get out of the lounge and have fun. Worry about yourself! YOUR IN DISNEY ............ENOUGH SAID!::MickeyMo

lillykat, don't be embarrassed about asking. It is a perfectly reasonable question. Why buy bottles of water if they are included in the service for which you are paying?

We were there just after CRCrazy...the 20-25...and I didn't look for water myself. My DH mentioned to me that he didn't see them out. Perhaps he looked in the AM and as CRCrazy noted they are only out during the day?

BTW, the Polynesian concierge lounge does have mango juice out during the day. It's over by the ice tea and lemonade. It's one of my husband's and daughter's favorite things about concierge there!

Lilykat, please don't be embarassed. It certainly wasn't my intention to make you feel that way at all. My apologies. I guess reading these boards can make a person cranky and I guess I just don't get how some people view the concierge lounge. I've seen threads in the past how "cost efficient" concierge can be. One guy did the math - it cost X amount of dollars to stay concierge and X amount of dollars to feed my family. Its cheaper to stay concierge. No joke I have read posts like that here on the DIS.

I never rent a car at DW but instead use Florida Tours for transportation. Andy and his gang are great. We use them for the airport, shopping excursions, sidetrips, etc. They offer a free store stop from the airport if there if anything you need to pick up. I highly recommend them.

And just for the record - I'll bring up another pet peeve of mine. Refillable mugs! I don't think they were intended for a lifetime of free soda! :earseek:
