where should I stay thread? I hope so, cause I need help!:)

My dad and I are planning on going to Disney World next year, just to see the 4th of July fireworks. The plan is to fly in on July 2, and fly out July 5. We would do the Magic Kingdom on July 3, and Epcot on July 4. I have been tossing around lots of different resort ideas, but these are the 2 ideas that I think will work best for us. What do you think sounds best?

Option #1 Stay all 3 nights at the Dolphin. I think this would be a perfect time for a first stay here, as it will be just the 2 of us, and we won't be checking any luggage. Dad loves to get out and walk, and there is plenty we could see and do from this location. The downsides I can see are no ME, and I keep reading that the busses are not the greatest from the Dolphin. Plus it would be about $120 more than option #2.

Option #2 Stay at POFQ the first 2 nights, then move to the Beach Club for the 3rd night. Dad has stayed at POFQ before, and really enjoyed it. I definately want to be on the Boardwalk for July 4, so we would switch that morning to the Beach Club. That would give us easy axcess to Epcot, and a quick retreat to the resort after the fireworks. We could use ME, but we would have to spend part of our last full day checking out of one resort and in to another. Plus we would be paying for a cab ride from POFQ to the Beach Club.

Which option sounds best to you? Are there any really big plusses or minuses that I am missing about the resorts? TIA!

I think option 1 makes more sense. I don't think for that short of a trip that I would want to spend the time checking in and out of 2 different hotels. JMO

On a trip that short do you really want to spend any time swapping to another resort?

Plus Dolphin's easy access to Epcot and the Boardwalk too is it not?

Option 1 without question for me :thumbsup2

This wasn't in your options but I have to say, the Theme Park Tower rooms at the Contemporary are THE best way to see fireworks. It was amazing and easily the best fireworks show I have ever seen in my life. Right from the comfort of my own balcony.- Just a thought.

Other than that 1 room is easier that switching, no matter what you choose, especially for a short trip. It sounds great though! Have fun!

Sounds like a great trip! Since your plan is not to be at MK for the 4th, then definitely Dolphin :) It is a beautiful area with lots of walking paths/sidewalks. And being able to stroll over to International Gateway on the 4th is just about as good as it gets!

Changing resorts would mean essentially losing a day at the resort - with a short trip it would not be fun and you would lose so much time in the transition.

So, here's another vote for option # 1 :goodvibes

Have a great visit!!! :thumbsup2

I'd go with option #1 also, but I'm biased. :rolleyes1 We're staying there for the 1st time in Oct. I'd never choose a moderate resort over a deluxe given the choice. The buses at the Dolphin are the same as the other Epcot resorts. From what I've read, sometimes they're shared with the other resorts & sometimes they aren't. It would be the same for all of them though.

Sticking with just the 2 options you have given, I would definitely go with the Dolphin. You'll be in the Boardwalk area and you can settle into your room.

Have fun :wizard:

Just a couple of thoughts on this...

I think if you want to be immersed in Disney for the entire trip you're better off doing the split stay...but only if you HAVE to be in the Epcot area for the fireworks.

Secondly, you won't have to pay for a cab ride between resorts. Let them know when you check-out that you're transfering and they will send your bags ahead. Then, go straight to Epcot or DHS, walk over to BC to check in and they'll get your bags to your room for you.

If I were you, I'd bite the bullet and stay at YC/BC/BWI all three nights, even if you had to switch between those three resorts. It's just a preference thing.

I like this option, No. 3.

I'd just stay at POFQ the entire stay. Just easier (and less costly) in my opinion.
