LOL!

Today was my 6 month check ups. First and foremost, everything is fine. Both my oncologist and orthopaedist were thrilled to see my walking and looking healthy. My scans are clear, my bloodwork is clear, everything is clear.

I am not growing any, I will be forever 5'3 and a half. Gaining weight is another problem. I eat crap food and don't gain weight. I had 10 McDonald's chicken nuggets at 1030 this morning. At 3 o'clock, I weighed in at 121.4 pounds. I was heavier yesterday. :confused3 I think my metabolism may have slowed down from chemo, I am down 44 pounds from the start of chemo. I look better now, but I could really use the extra cushion as my bones are more brittle now.

Now, I've been having this strange pain on the top of fibula ever since I started bearing weight on my knee. Nothing shows up on the MRI, nor the xray. When the ortho felt it, he said it felt funny. The only thing he can think of at this point are -
1) Bursitis
2) The plastic piece of the implant is too large.

They want to give me a steriod shot (cortisone) to see if it goes away. If it doesn't, it's off to the operating room. They only want to do surgery as a last resort, as it gives me a greater chance for infection. This is really the only bad thing going on with me right now.

Today in the cancer center, and inmate was brought it. Orange jumpsuit, handcuffs, guards, everything. I had to go back to the lab for a bandaid because the gauze they gave me wasn't sticking. As I walked near the guy, he freaking stared me down like I was a piece of meat. I was angry and disgusted and freaked out all at the same time.  :scared:

Well, this was really it for today. It was a long day and I have school tomorrow, so Bon Voyage!
- Sonya.

You've certainly been a trooper these past months. I'm sorry that you've had to go through that much, and I hope that things will be smooth for you from now on.

I really hope that they'll be able to smooth out these complications. You've had to go through enough already.

And LOL at the inmate. Those guys really are creepy.

That's so great that pretty much everything is fine! :)
Haha, don't worry 5'3 isn't that bad!

Hopefully the strange pain isn't anything serious...
Good luck with everything!

I didn't know your situation all the way, but after reading this post I get the idea that you are a Cancer survivor. That is so amazing. You must be a super strong person to go through all you have gone through. It is always great to here these types of stories or updates as you call them. So please never stop them.

CJ, it is tiring. I have this sense of normalcy again after a year and a half, but these bumps in the road just really annoy me. I am pretty normal aside from the strange knee pain and the tiredness from the chemo. And yes, the inmate was disgusting. He just had like this sick smirk that made me want to puke. Gross.

Disney~Magic, yep I am. I was diagnosed in July of 07 and finished in March of this year.

Yay for Sonya! I'm so happy everything is clear!
I hope everything with your knee is okay.
And that inmate sounds super freaky!

I'm glad everything is going well!
Erm... besides your knee of course. Hopefully it's just bursitis. That's not too bad. I hope they figure out what the problem is.
And 5'3 isn't that bad... Actually in my opinion you're lucky. I'm 5'2.

Thank you everyone. I'm just tired of living in pain, this particular one has been going on since October of last year.

Hunter, I'm not upset really. Short girls can use high heels to make them taller, tall girls can't use anything to make them shorter. ;)
Forgive me if I'm confusing you with someone else, but do you have orthopaedic experience? I think it was you who helped with sports trainers?

That can't be any more true!! lol
Plus, it's harder to find guys who are taller than us..which is a pain.

Yeah that's me!

And I totally agree about the heels. It's a lot easier to find guys that are taller than I am, even when I'm wearing heels.

I hope you don't need that surgury, Sonya! But you've been so strong through all this, and I greatly admire you for that. (I feel like a baby complaining about my OWN pain!)

If you dont mind me asking... What kind of cancer did you have? Thats amazing that you survived and that you are LIVEing STRONG!

Meg, dude, I admire YOU! You had surgery on your spine! Your spine for freaks sake! You can live without a leg, but not without a spine!

i<3castawaycay, I had Osteosarcoma. It's bone cancer.
