Can you spot a solo?

I've never noticed solos when I was there with a group, but when I was there solo myself, I was able to spot them. As a single guy, there is sort of a weird feeling walking through the Magic Kingdom by yourself (my solo trips have always been as part of business, but I usually include a day at the end at a Park). But being by yourself, maybe makes you more aware of it. And I spot tons of guys walking around by themselves. I think it has to do with the convention business. People sometimes want to skip out of the meetings and get away from the people they're with. The Parks are a good way to do that. I wouldn't say that I've seen huge numbers, but one day eating lunch, there were at least 4 other guys by themselves in the restaurant.

Tell me about it! As a 27 year old single guy, people think I'm crazy for going. I can only imagine what people are thinking when they see me eating alone. Oh well, their loss. I've tried to look for other solos, but it's hard to tell if someone is there alone, or if they just separated from their group for a while.

haha I know what you mean, 28 y/o male here and am currently on a solo and often feel I am often getting weird looks/vives from people. When I checked in the girl was downright rude to me as well and made me very weirded out. But when I am in the parls of eating at a bar I feel fine. I just need to realise noone really cares at all. Everyones too busy.

I'm glad I noticed this thread whilst perusing the boards today. I'm going solo in 6 days and only just now am I getting nervous! This thread is calming me down and bringing me back to my initial excitement!

hiya, are you still at wdw? if so wanna meet up? I am here solo at the moment.

PM if you want or here is fine too :)

I have an AP and I often go to the park alone. I feel so calmed and relaxed while I'm there and afterwards. Those days are like therapy to me. Eating alone isn't really a big deal either. I had lunch in France on Easter alone and took my book and relaxed and enjoyed the food and a/c. Hope you enjoy your trip. :goodvibes

I'm a single 30 year old. I completely understand. Personally I could imagine not going solo. I have no problem when I'm down there but back home I just tell people I went to Las Vegas. I'm tired of explaining why I love Disney.

I also have a Florida residents annual pass (seasonal) no summer visits, too crowded anyway :) and eating alone at the Food & Wine Festival in October is fine cuz you really aren't alone around World Showcase

Last year I went on a solo trip just to see Jon Secada during the Eat To The Beat concert series, stayed at the Boardwalk so I could walk/stumble back to my room after F&W fest :rotfl:
Arrived around 8:30 am.. almost ran to Soaring... love that ride
Did the single riders line on Test Track and met this nice couple in our car, I passed them a few times around World Showcase and we stopped to chat each time

Later that afternoon

Strolled back to Boardwalk area to ESPN Zone to check out the Miami Dolphin game OMG that place is packed on football sundays, thought Hmmm how about the Boardwalk pool bar to watch the game, yup it was empty, couple of people at the pool bar enjoying the sun and games on tv..

back to Epcot
Had a great time the first two shows Jon Secada performed then got a little hungry for more sushi over in Japan so I missed the 3rd show, but was able to get a great spot on the World Showcase lagoon rail to enjoy Illuminations Reflections of Earth

Overall a wonderful day

I can say to any solo guest, you will feel great the whole visit, I mean come on, it is the happiest place on earth ::MickeyMo
Mickey is so relaxing and enjoyable to visit.

Most likely doing the same thing this year since Jon Secada is scheduled for the Eat To The Beat concert series on a weekday Thursday Oct 6th and Friday Oct 7th

Can you spot a solo?

Yes! They have blissfully happy expressions and contented smiles on their faces.

In my limited solo travels I find myself feeling sorry for those not traveling solo. As I sit at my table, eating the meal I chose with no debate, I look around at the groups of people with happy/not happy expressions and feel utter contentment. Going to the bathroom by myself, heavenly!

Enjoy yourself! :earsboy:

How funny, I was thinking of a solo trip over the July 4th, but just came back from a trip with my DD in May. No one understands my need to go back alone two months later, when I have to go AGAIN in Oct for the wine and dine half marathon(I wont be solo for the wine and dine) I thought about telling most people I was headed somewhere different.

I've been solo a few times and no one seems to notice. Either that, or I'm just in my own little world and don't notice people noticing. Maybe this should become like the new Hidden Mickeys-- find the Disboards solos! ;)

I so agree. Everyone is busy doing their own thing, and figure you are doing a little alone time from your own crowd. I love it b/c I can take photos, go places no one else is interested in, do my own thing. I love being at the pool chatting with others about things to do, ideas for meals etc. Esp. if you get a first timer at WDW.

Pop some little notes to yourself if you have your camera.... like...
things to " shoot". REFLECTIONS, REPETITION, WINDOW AND DOORS... you'll have a ball noticing little things you've never seen before.

My one personal thing... I don't shoot photos in the attractions!

Have fun!
