Can you split up the dining plan?

Is it possible to split up the dining plan? We are going for 6 days; would it be possible to do the regular dining plan for 3 nights and the deluxe dining plan for the other 3 nights?

Thanks!!

No. Not unless you book a split stay -- 2 separate reservations, with 2 separate ticket packages. (Which would destroy any value).

Forgot to add, we're a DVC reservation, not sure if that makes any difference.

Unfortunatley not-- and unless the rules have changed you can't do it with a split stay either. Trust me I have spend hours on this subject trying to do the same.

If you did a split stay:
3 Nights on DDP + park tix for 3 days
3 Nights on DxDP + park tix for 3 days
You must have Hotel + Park Tix to get dining plan, and you can't use the park tix from a previous stay even if it is was just 1 day ago.

My recommendation, go DxDP if you think you are going to use it. Instead of paying for an extra set of tickets per person!

Hope it all works out :)

Makes a total difference. You should call DVC and see what they can offer. They might need to do a split stay that way not sure. I would check it out! Sorry my other post was just 1 min after you wrote that

Thanks! I was just thinking, 'I should call member services'...... Thanks for your help!

I have heard that DVC no longer allows segmenting of the dining plan. It's all or nothing.

ONly if you are changing rooms halfway through your stay. You can ask to have your reservation made with different reservation numbers and then get the deluxe for 1 half and the regular for the other half- the credits won't mix with each other. You will have to be switching rooms as they will only do this if you are changing resorts (possibly if you change room categories- differnt view or room size).

We are booked for a six night stay at the Poly with deluxe dining plan and 10 days of park tickets. We are then booked at Kidani Village for 3 nights with deluxe dining plan and 1 day of park tickets. We had to buy 1 day tickets with the second reservation in order to buy the dining plan, but we will just use our 10 day tickets from the other reservation and then save the 1 day ticket from the second reservation. I think you could do something similar if you were willing to book your trip as 2 separate reservations and eat the cost of the 1 day tickets. I don't know if you save much that way though, it would probably just be cheaper to get deluxe dining for the whole time.

Just got off the phone with member services... It's one or the other... No switching within the same reservation.... It would have been nice, but not the end of the world... Time to get my calculator out and see what's cheaper... Deluxe or pay OOP for a few meals.

Thanks again for all of your help!

That is true, we are renting DVC points for Nov 25th-Dec.5th. And have our Boardwalk stay segmented into 4 "different" reservations as we were waiting for waitlisted dates to open up (as an aside, the final night of the stay just opened up 2 days ago! YAYY!) We asked and the nights at the Boardwalk all had to be the same Dining Plan. The first two nights we are at Saratoga and are doing the deluxe, so different hotels, you can do different plans, same hotel and room, even segmented reservation, cannot.

What if my spouse will be joining me day 4 of a 7 day trip. Can we do the DDP for 3 the first 3 nights and then for 4 people the last 3 nights?

I believe it has to be one plan for all guests for the entire length of the trip.

DVC no longer allows guests to "segment and link" reservations in order to have different dining plans while guaranteeing a stay in the same room. So even on a DVC reservation it would be necessary to have two separate room reservations. You wouldn't have to buy tickets, but there is a chance you'd have to switch rooms mid-trip.

Not without doing two separate room reservations. On one reservation, everyone listed on the room has to have DDP for the entire length of the reservation.
