Can you split resort stays during the free dining promo?

We have never had a reservation at more than one resort, but I am thinking about a split-stay, since I want to upgrade from a Value to a Moderate or possible deluxe, but we don't want to spend the money for the whole time. I'm not able to price it online, but wondered if anyone had any info before I call.

Would you recommend a split-stay? It seems to be a bit of a pain to re-pack and move, but it might be one option within our budget to experience a deluxe resort. Will Disney transfer your luggage, or do you have to do it? (We won't have a car.)

Thank you!

I think it's a pain (even though I do it, and I just have to pack/repack for me) but MANY people do split stays for, among other reasons, the one you state. Disney will transfer your luggage, but it may take a number of hours - especially if you're starting out at a Value resort because Luggage Assistance isn't as able to personalize your service as Bell Services is. Confusing, I know. Someone else can better explain the procedure, since I only change properties if I have a rental car.

You can do a split stay but its going to be 2 different ressies. Moving is very easy and we do it every trip. The resort will send your luggage to the resort you are moving to.
The dining part shouldnt be a problem since when you are on the plan your credits last til midnight the day you check out so that should last til you check in to your new resort and get your new keys.

I think you would have to book two separate packages to get the free dining. Each would have to be a minimum of 3 nights. You'd have to buy tickets with each package and pay a deposit on each. I would check with Disney to be sure. I personally wouldn't want to switch resorts mid trip but I've heard that a lot of people on these boards really love it!

this is exactly what you will have to do.

This is exactly what you have to do - I have three separate packages for one trip. Because our trip is 14 days, moving twice is not a big deal since it will allow us to experience the Polynesian and BWI for a few nights each with the bulk of our time spent at POR.

All the money that you save by getting Free Dining.... will be spent on having to buy 2 short-term packages instead of one long-term ticket package.

Split stays can be expensive, since a 7 day package is soooo much cheaper per day compaired to a 3 day or 4 day package.

Plus you lose some time moving around and waiting to check-in depending on how you do it.... and how busy the front desk is?

Seems like it is a good idea for a 14 day trip but maybe not if you're on a 7 day trip.

technically speaking, the only additional cost would be a 1 day ticket per person (needed for the free dining) and the hotel difference. Not too bad...

We always do a split stay. I just booked our August trip and I'm going to get a 10 day MYW ticket during our 7 night Polynesian stay and use the rest of the days during our 3 night stay at the AKL. I will then save the one day ticket required for the AKL for another date.
