Can you share an Entree??

Was wondering if anyone knows any "rules" or anything that prohibits the sharing of an Entree when on the dining plan? For example... We are a family of 5 and would like to at times either have one of the kids not order a whole meal or one of us. There is always MORE than enough food and we have no interest in taking leftovers back to the room. I would like to do a signature meal or something this time around that would take 2 meal credits. This would leave us with 1 day short of a sit down meal on our trip. If we share a meal or 2 throughout the trip on the other days we could then use the "saved" meals on the last day for 1 more sit down. Does this make sense? I think it's a good plan but my extreme "rule following" husband thinks that the Mickey Police will come and arrest us for sharing a plate. Anyone got and input on this? Thanks so much!! :)

BTW I do realize that the Entree sharing is only possible when not in a Buffet style restaraunt. :)

As long as it's not a buffet, there's no problem sharing a meal!

Now while we never did that with TS meals (mainly because most of ours were buffets), we never had an issue splitting a CS meal.

We have shared meals at 50's Primetime, and it was not a problem. I am not sure if we broke "the rules" or not. We tried to eat at Planet Hollywood ONCE, and I will not go back. There was a group of 13 of us. 3 of us were not hungry and did not want to order anything. The waiter got very mad and said he was charging us with a table service credit anyway because we were taking up seats!! The manager ended up getting involved and let us stay. I thought this was crazy!! After all, they had 10 eating and only three not, and it was a very slow time (restaurant wasn't even half full).

I agree. Your TS meals are yours to use as you like. I think it makes perfect sense to split an entree.:thumbsup2 The food really is plentiful. DH and I split our CS meals for breakfast and lunch and then each have a TS meal. We end up not even using many of our snack credits because we're too full. So, we take goodies home with us every year!;)

The only places that are consistently reported to not allow DDP guests to split meals are Beaches and Cream and Via Napoli. (Plus, of course, "admission" meals like buffets and dinner shows.)

Except as noted above, you are generally free to order fewer meals than people and split them, as long as the people involved are on the dining plan together. (You can't split your meals with people not on your dining plan.)

My DD and I shared a meal at Teppan Edo and they not only accommodated us gracefully, they offered us a second bowl of rice to stretch the meal further! But there was no need as it was plenty. We were both full at the end of the meal.

There should be no problem sharing entrees even on the dining plan. All you have to do is ask. The servers do this stuff all day long.

Thanks so much for the input. I felt it was an okay plan I just needed polling from the good ole' peanut gallery to help me sell hubby on it :)

We share all the time at WDW. And you can see by my siggie that we've used DDP alot! :goodvibes We haven't eaten at the 2 specific ones mentioned above but we have had no trouble sharing a meal. (Saves credits to use for more meals or signature meals!;))

We usually share CS meals with my dd becuase I nor my oldest dd will eat an entire adult meal unless it's something like a hot dog - the burgers, ribs/chicken, chicken sandwiches, pizza w/ salad are all sharable. Doing this a few times, we usually have enough credits for the day we check out where we would normally have to pay OOP. I do lose my desserts to her those days but that's fine with me. Can't share with ds10 though - he can eat it all himself.

We too have shared meals with other family members on the DDP. This helps stretch the credits or allows more to schedule a 2TS meal. We never have lacked for food!

Thanks for answering my question too!

We will have a total of 12 credits to use on our 2 days of DxDDP. So far, this is what we've allotted...

...arrival night: ????
...breakfast at Chef Mickey's: 2 credits total
...dinner at Boma: 2 credits total
...breakfast at Akershus: 2 credits total
...dinner at Spirit of Aloha: 4 credits total

For our arrival night, we have Fantasmic planned which puts us back to BLT for dinner around 9:30pm. I was thinking about trying Kona Cafe (depending on what time we get back and *IF* a walk up would be available) and my fall-back was grabbing CS from the Contempo Cafe. My other plan was to cancel Akershus (DSiL isn't a big breakfast eater and we are on a kid-free trip so no need for the characters/photo package) and order room service. Now, I think it would work out great to order room-service and split the meal. Since we are on the DxDDP, we get an appetizer too so it should be plenty of food. As a bonus, we wouldn't have to give up our breakfast on day #3.

During past trips, not all of us were as hungry as the next person. We chose not to burn our TS on the light eater, especially a signature restaurant. That person just ordered an appetizer and beverage which we paid out of pocket.
