If we can, we are thinking about going Dec 27th for about a week. I know that pools are heated but do guest really swim around that time of the year or is it to cold getting in and out of the water for around that time of the year????

Bumping....

I was wondering the same thing.....

Can you really use the pools/waterslides in December?

I have on both my December trips. However, it wasn't that cold either time. Our first trip had many days of highs in the mid 80s. The second trip wasn't as warm, but the last day was kinda chilly.

It really depends on your temps. It can be as high as 85 or down to the high 30s.

ETA: OOPS....I didn't realize this was the DL forum. My information is for WDW. I don't know what DL is like in December.

I think it depends on if your used to the cold or not and a few other things. First the pool has to be very warm (not luke warm), second no rain (don't want to get hit by lightning), and third stay in the pool the whole time (no sliding down the slide, sitting by the pool, etc.)

I've been swimming in an outdoor heated pool when the outside temperature was well below freezing and the pool was surrounded by snow and it was a blast. It just depends on what you like.

It depends on what you consider cold. If you're from North Dakota, you'll probably be just fine. If you're from Arizona, you'll probably be cold. It should probably be in the 70s in December. Mornings and evenings are much cooler.

Well, I am from Canada, so I'm sure I will find it just fine!! :rotfl:

Or more then fine!!

Yup, I'm from Alberta too (just east of Calgary), and believe me, there is no way the temp. in California could ever drop cold enough to keep my dd out of the pool :cool1:

You can always tell the Canadians....we will be swimming no matter how cold!! :rotfl:

I found some temps:
November-average high 73/22, low 52/11 1.01 rain
December-average high 67/19, low 48/8 1.60 rain

Hmmmm. It is 6 degrees right now outside.... I don't think I would swim today!!
When it hits 10, I am good to go!!

I don't care about the swimming as much as I don't want to freeze after getting soaked on the Grizzly River Run!!!

So, do you all think-- That if it is a bright sunny 70 day then maybe we could for a little while but if it is a cloudy 70 day we might not want to?
I live in the south so my blood is thiner.LOL Then those of you that live in the north.

Well we're from Australia, and the day before we left for Disneyland it was 98 degrees at our place and we still swam in the pool at the Howard Johnson at night when it was about 44 degrees!

Yes, it was cold getting to and from the outdoor pool, but the pool itself was as warm as a bath, and the spa too hot to stand for more than a few minutes.

So, my short answer is - doesn't matter how cold it is, but how good the hotel is at heating the pool. If it is as good as the Howard Johnson then the pool will be packed every night, no matter how cold it is.

However, we too had no intention of getting soaked on GRR and so wore full length ponchos. If you don't wear a poncho you will spend the next hour in cold freezing clothes as on this ride you do get absolutely soaked!

Im in Alberta as well. I will be going to DIsneyland in January for a week and I will be hittin the pools and hot tubs at the DIsneyland hotel for sure :)

:earsboy:

Haha... I'm from Alberta Canada as well and thats the first thing i thought was no weather will keep me out of those pools!! Look at this way, when we went to WDW in February last year, my girlfriend and I were like one of maybe 25 families at Blizzard Beach because of how chilly it was! We had all the slides to ourselves! Good times! Ya we're troopers..

Well, you won't find the locals at an outdoor pool that time of year. The pool would really have to be heated to bath water temp for me to go into a pool in Dec. and most outdoor pools are not. It's very costly to heat.

This reminds me of my honeymoon in the south of Portugal. It was April and the weather was similar to So. Calif. weather during that time of year; around the low 70's. My husband and I thought it was a bit too chilly for the pool but all the British families were out there in their swim suits frolicking in the water not looking a bit cold. It really does depend what kind of weather you're use to.

I stayed at thr DGC a few years back and used the pool. I was fine, I even went down the slide a couple of times, but it was a little chilly just lay out on the pool deck. :sunny: + :cold: + :cool1:

Really?? Like you can really swim in December? Outside???

So how warm is the DLH pool in december, that is really the Q. if the pool is warm enough, no problem, if not forget it...(I'm from Oregon, rain is ok also.)
