can you only order a steak on the deluxe dining plan, no sides included?

was wondering at the disney spring Boat house if this is a good use of my dining plan as we like a side with our meal,, anyone know if sides our out of pocket not included..

Yeah, but that's how they do it at many high end steakhouses.

To the OP, if it's where you really want to eat, then it's all relative if it's a "good use". If you're enjoying your vacation, that's what is important!

There are a lot of restaurants like this.

Ruth's Chris comes to mind. As does Morton's.

Standard for higher end steakhouses. The sides are usually big enough to share though. Should be when paying $12 or more for a baked potato. Never been to the boathouse so not sure what they offer.

Unless listed with the meal, sides are extra. But, for the most part they are meant to be shared. We ordered asparagus and fries for 3 of us and there was a lot leftover when we were finished. I can't remember what else I had that night but I do remember that's the night my husband learned that if you have a fresh fish allergy, you shouldn't try even a bite of frog legs.

Echoing what other posters have said, yes sides will be extra! Haven't eaten at Boat House but this is the standard for steaks at other signature restaurants (e.g. Yachtsman). The good news is that the sides are always big enough to share (your server will tell you this too!). Depending on the restaurant, your steak may come with a small accompaniment of its own (whether it's some slices of roasted peppers, or some sauce drizzled over). Not enough in my opinion to make the accompaniment a side of its own, but its very rarely a steak alone on a plate without something to make it look pretty. Wherever you go, get the mac & cheese. My first time having steak with mac & cheese was at Jiko, and I'll never look back!

When I had a steak at Yachtsman last year it came with a side. I had Au Gratin potatoes with mine. All of the steak did have a side there. I noted it because it is unusual for high end steakhouses.

My favorite to is Jiko, the filet and Mac & cheese.... My husband is going to talk to the manager at The Boat house and see if you can sub an appetizer for a side, ( doing deluxe dining ) if not, well we share a side "OP"' No biggie...

This is not the case with Yachtsman. Sides are included with the meal.
