Can you move partial balances between Disney Gift Cards?

OK, thanks to the boards here I'm aware of the www.disneygiftcard.com site to consolidate Disney gift cards, and have been happily using it for 2 years to have a stack of $1,000 gift cards instead of a mountain of $25/50/100 gift cards.

Question: It appears to me that the only option is to transfer the entire balance of a card to another card. Is there a way to transfer only part of a gift card to another gift card? (I don't think so, but I also spent 18 months entering a new card, transferring the balance, and then deleting it before hearing someone (probably @Dug720; she's the one who I first heard talk about consolidating cards) mention that you could go up into the menus and transfer value from a card without first entering it as one of your 5 cards.)

I'm trying to get a gift card with the exact value of my mother-in-law's gratuities and shore excursions so I can just hand her the card to add to her account. Not a crisis if I have to just go to guest services (or call DCL in advance) and just pay it off of a larger card; just wanted to simplify the process to handing her a card.

I have had luck moving balances. I had a card with only a few dollars left on it. I was able to move it to another card.

There currently is no way to transfer any amount other than the entire value of a card. However, you could give your MIL a card with a bit more than she needs, then after she’s used it, transfer the remaining balance back to a different card.

As the costs of Disney vacations - and specifically Disney cruises - continue to increase far in excess of the rate of inflation, they really need to a.) add a $1,000 denomination for these cards at purchase; b.) raise the maximum balances on these cards to, say, $2500; and/or c.) let you store more than five cards online.

My cruises usually cost between $12k-$14k, making the current card setup unwieldy, to say the least.

And, yeah, being able to move partial balances would be nice. It doesn’t seem like that would be terribly difficult to add?

I have always had to totally enter a new card, transfer the balance, and then delete that card. And I have never tried to transfer a partial balance.

A higher max balance would be very useful to us also. Should be easy enough for the IT to change the max to $2500 or more. The Mouse knows exactly how much money is stored in the consolidated GCs and when they are used. What a stash of cash !!!

A few months ago I mentioned not having to add cards if you are only using them to transfer $, so if I’m the one who helped you I’m glad! And you’re correct, there’s no way to transfer a partial balance between cards. :(
