Can You Move Couches In Resort Rooms?

Does anyone know if you can move the couches in resort rooms, specifically at Poly? Currently booked to stay at a Poly standard room with a toddler who's an extraordinarily light sleeper--we want to put him on the pull-out couch and turn the couch to face the windows (black-out curtains pulled, of course!) to create a bit of separation from the rest of the room so we can move around more freely after he's sleeping...

No, I think they are secured to the wall. If you are talking about a day bed. If you are talking about a sleeper sofa in a DVC villa, those cannot be moved either. Too heavy.

It's been awhile since I stayed at the Poly and the rooms are larger than many @ WDW, even so I don't think it'd be physically easy to do - there wouldn't be enough space to turn it around and scoot it over w/out lifting it over the end of the bed and you'd have to move the table and chairs located by the sliders to elsewhere in the room.
Perhaps if you have a King size bed there'd be more room to maneuver. Why not just locate a PAC and play by the window and throw a covering over the side?
Ask for a room with a balcony and at least you can enjoy sitting on your balcony while your toddler sleeps in the room.

At the Poly, I Would ask for a patio room. WE had requested a room with a balcony, but since there are not many of those rooms, we ended up with a 1st floor patio. Bummer, right? Nope. Best room ever! We loved sitting out there with coffee in the morning, or relaxing for a bit before dinner in the evening. With a little one sleeping in the room, this would be kind of like an extra room for you. The grounds were lovely and plus, so we had plenty of privacy. I have not been since the renovation so I am not sure about the grounds now, but if you go to Tikiman's sight, you will get a lot of ideas.

We tried this & it didn't work. The daybed wont clear the actual bed, which is secured to the floor or wall. It's too long to spin it around in the small free space in the room. I'll second what someone said about the DVC studio sofa beds - wayyyyyy too heavy to move, or either they're secured as well.

what about bringing one of those bed tents? y'know the kind that you setup as part of the bed, you could zip it up and have him be in his special little space. My DS had a Lightening McQueen one when he was little - he loved it.
Two of my 3 kids are light sleepers. Sharing a hotel room was tricky with them when they were little. We would just have to climb into bed, put our headphones on and watch stuff on our iPads until our bed time!

That is what my DS does with the grandkids! a tent arrangement over the bed gives the privacy/separation that they need. Works great!

Deleted as I see this issue has caused debate.

We move the furniture every trip in our DVC villa. Couch is heavy because it is a sleeper but definitely movable.
Ah, please don't move the furniture in the villas. Whenever damage occurs, we members have to pay for it with our dues. The furniture really isn't meant to be moved except for an inch or two to retrieve something dropped behind it.

Well, I tried to look this up and ended up just finding debates about it here on the DIS. I see your concern and others on these debates as well. I will just keep my opinions to myself and email member services for the rule.

Thanks! Even though he's barely 2 and a half, our DS is 38" tall--no more pack & plays for him!

I've never even heard of those. I totally have to look into that--thanks!

Well, I think it depends on what furniture you are moving. I don't generally go into a hotel room and move the beds and dressers, but tables and chairs and other lightweight items get moved to where I find them to be most convenient. I think a lot of people do, to accommodate airbeds, pack n play's and other such items. I personally wouldn't go into a room planning to move a sofa bed/daybed, because there just isn't really room to move those items around, and they would be way too heavy. But to say we should never move any furniture, no, I don't think that's reasonable.

I wouldn't move furniture but it doesn't surprise me people do. I still remember a post where people talked about bringing their own shower heads and attaching them. If they will do that they will do anything.

So I contacted DVC by email from the Member site. I got a phone call yesterday from DVC about this. I posed a very generic question. What is DVC's stand on moving furniture to other rooms, the balcony(patio - I've seen that one before), around in the villa such as the sleeper sofa or sleeper chair. The CM told me that DCV does not want members moving the furniture in the villa, other than the coffee table to open the sleeper sofa.

We were staying at SSR in the middle of several rain storms and someone had moved an upholstered chair to the patio. It stayed there for a few days and finally someone took it.
