can you merge a points and cash reservations?

I am trying to make contingency plans for this weekend/next week. My res at OKW begins Sun the 10th. Really want a place to stay Sat due to IRMA. Nothing is available - anywhere - as of right now for points. First, if people cancel, is it too late for them to open these rooms up for points again or do they automatically become cash? I cannot do a waitlist b/c I would have to use banked points and we are only a few days out from the res.

So - if I were to get a room through cash, could I merge it with my points reservation - assuming I could get a MS rep on the phone?

ETA - whoa - they do have a 2bdrm available on cash through the regular site - for $645!!! ok, that is not going to work...

I would still like to know about whether canceled points res go back into points or do they go to cash? Am I out of luck this late out?

If it's a cancelled points reservation it will go back to points. Just keep checking!
