I used to go when I was a teenager and I was pretty useless at it then! :p

I did it for the first time 3 years ago at the age of 35! I've done it about 3 or 4 times since then and haven't fallen. I roller skated for years growing up and I think that helped a little bit.
My dd10 takes figure skating lessons and ds8 is a hockey player. They skate too fast for me and it makes me nervous if I'm on the ice with them.

Yes. I spent a lot of my childhood/teenage years at the rink. I took lessons from 1st grade to 8th grade and I taught figure skating for Special Olympics for 2 years during highschool. I miss skating! My 3 year old started skating last year, she got skates for her 2nd birthday. Hopefully she'll enjoy it as much as I did. :D

Only if you call fall down on your butt and sliding across the ice on your butt skating.;)

After many years of lessons and performing in ice shows, I better be able to. ;) Now if I could just get my kids going on the ice Id be all set. ;)

Used to be able to skate but can't any longer. Skated all the time as a youngster.

Better than I can walk.
I feel like I've spent more time in rinks than I have outside them. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm another who used to skate competetively. I quit when I was about 12 -- I grew too tall to be much good, or at least that is what I was told (both my sister and I were told this). I go usually 2 or 3 x a year with my kids. There is something so freeing and peaceful about ice skating. :)

I practically live at the ice rink, but never actually on the ice! My older daughter is a competitive ice skater, my son plays hockey and my younger daughter is getting into competitions this spring. My husband also coaches hockey, and skates really well. needless to say, I'm the odd man out in my family.

I have a ruptured disc in my back so I'm really afraid of falling.

My mom put me on skates as a 2yo and I've skated ever since. When I can't ice skate I roller skate. It's wonderful excercise. CamColt, what shows did you skate in, that's so neat!

Ummmm, nope. Either I fall on my butt or I twist my ankle or both. I do enjoy rollerskating though.

LOL, nothing professional. :D Just the the shows that my skating school put on. Although Nancy Kerrigan did skate in one of them too. This was probably 20 years ago. ;)

I'm an average skater, nothing too exciting.

I just got new skates this year though! yeah :)

When I was younger, we used to go ice skating about once every year. My dad played hockey so he was always really good at ice skating, but with everyone else in my family it was a different story. I would usually have to start with holding onto someone. Eventually I could go on my own, but not very fast and slipping every once in awhile (and I could never manage the backwards thing that my dad could always do!)

My DD9 has been skating from the time she just turned 3 now she is on a synchronized skate team as well as doing solo competitions... I SUCK at skating but I like the fact that she is doing something that I could never master. I was basketball, volleyball and softball. We practically pay the mortgage at the ice house, between coaches, ice time and team. But I LOVE it. I am sooo proud of her.

After all the money my parents spent on skating lessons, ice time and ballet, I'd better be able to ice skate!!

It's been a while since I've gone, but my nephew wants to learn so I sense that I'll be skating pretty often this summer.

I used to go ice skating once a year with my best friend. Every winter they have ice skating at our Civic Center. I could keep a pretty good pace and turn and stop without falling so I guess I was better than some. I was better at roller skating though. Speed skating was my thing.

I used to be a good skater and loved playing hockey and skating on the local frozen ponds. Used to be... meaning about forty years ago. Now, I'm happy when I walk steady.

I voted yes, even though I haven't done it in 7-8 years. When I was in high school, every summer we would go to Astroworld in Houston with my best friend and her mom and our first night there was always spent at the Galleria shopping and ice skating!
