Can You Hold Two WOC FP At Once?

We're coming to DLR this summer and WOC is a must-do for us. However, I'd like to do the second (or third) show, because it sounds as if you don't have to line up as early beforehand. (I have a hard time convincing my family, never mind myself, to stand around and wait for things at Disney.)

But I am nervous about getting FP for the later shows. It sounds like you have to keep going back and checking the machines, trying to time it right for the show and color you want. The times, obviously, change a lot depending on how busy the park is. It seems like a gamble and a hassle.

So, my question is: can we get tickets first thing in the morning, as a kind of insurance, and then try back later to also get the tickets we really want? In other words, can you get two FP to WOC on the same day, same ticket? Or will the machines recognize you and refuse to give you a second FP?

Thanks, experts.

why don't you get the picnic lunches and then you won't have to worry about not getting the show you want.

Why not? The FP machines have no idea it is you hold the multiple tickets.

i 2nd this! :thumbsup2 then you will get the show you want and you are guaranteed a ticket for WOC, there is no coin toss on whether or not the FP"s are sold out or not. plus the picnic meals are very delicous!

you mean like if you used your ticket to FP for WOC, then went back and used your same ticket to get another..? is that what your saying? yeah i have a feeling that the 2nd time around it will reject your ticket, you can be the runner for your group, you just have to collect each ticket from each person in your group and then get the Fp's for woc for them.

I am pretty sure you can only get one WOC pass per ticket each day.

umm yep i 2nd this also

The machine does know if you have already scanned your ticket for that day and received a FP ticket.

One per ticket per day.

Correct.

You may be right, but I would try anyway. What if I misplaced my FP and needed to get another one?
Then you would be at the mercy of the kindness of a CM working at the FP machines or the CM at Guest Relations to decide to issue you a replacement. This is NOT something they have to do and have no obligation to re-issue your WoC FP. Once you receive it, it's your responsibility not to lose it prior to show time.

I just went to the Disneyland website and found this to confirm that you can't get more than one WOC FP:

"Can I exchange my Disney's FASTPASS ticket for a different time or section?

Your Disney's FASTPASS ticket is non-transferable. Paradise Park was expertly designed to provide stunning views of World of Color from all areas and section assignments are distributed based on availability and are subject to change without notice."

OP, when you go to the FP machine for WOC, the CM's will be able to tell you what show the tickets are for. If you're not happy with that, then you can come back later. If you want to avoid those frequent visits then I agree with the others that you can reserve a meal ahead of time that comes with a FP.

The one exception I have seen to this first-hand is if your group all gets their FPs at the same time and by the randomness of randomization (LOL) part of your group gets one section or show and the other part gets another. The CMs are great about fixing this so that everyone is together since you happened to hit the machine right at the switch. (Note: This is different than one person going up at 9am and the rest of the group going up at 2pm and getting a different area or show and asking to be put together.)

Thank you for clarifying.

Just have to say this made me giggle:

Paradise Park was expertly designed to provide stunning views of World of Color from all areas

Unless you're 5'1" or under in which case you won't be able to see from most areas of the park!

As far as I'm concerned the design of Paradise Park was a major fail!

Oh, lol, that part made me laugh too - "stunning views from all areas", as long as you get there an hour before everyone else, run to the front railing, don't have any kids on top of their parent's shoulders in front of you, or light poles, or trellises, or balloons, and you are basically dead center. How could you go wrong!?!? ;)

For those who suggested the picnic - I don't understand how getting the picnic saves any time at all. Can someone clarify?

From what I read, you have to line up just as early if you are in the picnic reserved area as you do for any other section. I've also read that the reserved section isn't really the best seating "in the house." (Although there doesn't seem to be any agreement on what the best seating is at all, actually.)

I've never quite understood why the picnic saves any time, except perhaps the time one person spends running over to get FP, which isn't much.

Hmm. I really appreciate your trying to find a real answer. Thank you.

But I'm not sure this wording precludes getting tickets for/attending more than one show a day. It doesn't say "one show per person per day" it just says you can't trade one FP for another.

It leads me to think that they probably don't want you getting more than one a day, though, and best not to plan on it (although, as Jack said, why not try?).

That's the time it saves. Maybe the fastpass isn't much of an issue right now, but when WoC first opened, the line just to get the fastpass for the show was often more than an hour long. There were still very long lines some mornings during the peak visiting time of Thanksgiving (I don't know about Christmas/New Year's since I wasn't there then).

The other thing the picnic does is guarantee that you don't get a red fastpass. While people have differing opinions on what constitutes a good viewing position, most people seem to agree that red is the worst choice.

The bottom line is if you want a good spot, you will HAVE to show up to your color section at least 30 minutes before. That's just the way it is. If you don't show up in that 60-30 minutes prior time frame, you will just not get a very good spot, and you'll be the last to enter your section. It is first come/first serve.

What the picnic does, in your case, is ensures, as others said, that you don't get a red FP, which, from experience, is the crappiest! Also, you said that you wanted to go to a later showing. You could pick your picnic up later to get a later show. If, however, you were just trying to avoid the line-up before ANY show, as I said, you just can't if you want a GOOD spot.

If you really want the BEST spot with the LEAST amount of worry, you'd have to shell out the $40 for the preferred dining area package, but as you said, even that isn't a guarantee that you'll have the best possible view, so I don't think it's worth it.

Back to your original question about having more than one WOC pass at one time - I'm really pretty sure you can't. You can try, but I don't want you to get stuck with passes for the first show if that's not what you want, so if you DO plan to try, I suggest asking the CM when you go the first time IF you'd be able to come back. If they say no, then either don't get the FP's at that time, or just decide to go to that first show.

Gotcha, thanks to both of you.

So the picnic is a good option if you're not sure you can be there right at 9:30 to grab passes, but not really a time saver later.

Luckily, I have kids who are willing to get up early if they are promised rides, and a husband who considers himself God's gift to Fastpass Running. :)

I think the picnic is a timesaver if you don't want to have to continually check the machines to see what time/color it is distributing.

So if you order the picnic ahead of time (online), you will be guaranteed a FP for the first show in either blue and yellow. If you walk-up to the picnic window the day of the show and purchase a picnic meal, you will get a FP for the second show in either blue or yellow.

This is assuming there is more than one show the day you want you to go. If there is only one show, they most likely will not be selling the picnic lunches on a walk-up basis. Also be advised that if you purchase the picnic option the day of the show in the park, you MUST take the picnics with you. If you reserve ahead of time (online), you can pick up your picnic anytime between 2pm and 8pm. Just FYI.

If you really have your heart set on a specific color, the CMs have always been gracious and exchanged the FPs. For example, one night I really wanted blue and received yellow. I asked nicely and the CM exchanged the FP for the same show in the blue section. They don't have to, but I know others who have requested the same and received different colors.

Hopefully this helps and doesn't make things more confusing. :)

but with the picnic, you have a ticker to WOC, it's not a coin toss on whether or not you can get one at the FP machine. the picnic saves the time of not having to keep checking for the time and pass you want, you get the ticket with the meal, and so you are garaunteed a section, and the meals are yummy.i had the mediteranian vegeterina, my bf had the antipasto-we both agreed it was the best thing to do, and the also agreed the meals were very good!
