“My name is Jean Kang and I am a MBA student of Simon Fraser University, in British Columbia, Canada. I am also a member of this forum and my user name is jeank74. Currently, I am carrying out a market research project as part of my degree requirements. I am interested in what people think about their experience with the Disney Club.

This is Jean Kang and I am the person who is doing a survey at Disboards.com. I totally understand how you react to Robin's posting and I am sorry if I have caused you any inconvenience. The survey is on a voluntary basis so you don't have to participate if you are not comfortable with this.

For your information, I am currently a MBA student at Simon Fraser University, www.sfu.ca, in Burnaby, British Columbia. My supervisor is Dr. Colleen Collins-Dodd and her email address is dodd@sfu.ca. The questionnaire has been approved by the ethics and research committee of Simon Fraser University.

I sent an email to colleen_collins-dodd@sfu.ca in the Business Department at SFU. However, since it's 3:45 on a Friday out there, I probably won't hear back from her until Monday. My intuition tells me this is legitimate.

I did get an email reply from the supervising professor:

Yes Jean's survey is indeed a legitimate research project conducted to fulfill the requirements of the degree of masters of business administration here at Simon Fraser University, Burnaby BC Canada.

Her project is academic research and their is no commercial component. She will not be contacting participants except to announce the winner of the incentive draw. She is using the data, purely for her own research and not for the benefit of herself or any firm.

I hope this addresses your very valid concerns and thank you for taking the time to consider participating in the survey and for contacting me directly with your concern.

This is Jean and I would like to thank all of you who participated in my study. I have now collected enough responses (629 responses!!) for my project. So I will have to put a stop on the data collection now. Otherwise, I will blow out my laptop when I put the data into SPSS program for analysis....
