o-kay...this is my first thread start...here it goes...
This is our first trip to disney, I am a bit reluctant to "over" PS. We have only the "hard to get into" PS's. We will be @ WDW june 10-16, I made ps's at CRT one day, PSB another day and Chef Mickey's for dinner another day. I am afraid if I make to many ps's we will rule our entire trip on when we eat. I was kind of hoping we could just eat some snacks in between meals and get into the resteraunts at "off times". Is this a HUGE mistake?
Thanks in advance for your advice and input!

During the summer when it's busier, I'd suggest making some more PS's as a back-up. You can just cancel them that same day if you don't feel like going. Even if you can't call and you're a no-show, it's not really a reservation, anyway. It just means that when you arrive on time for your scheduled meal, you get the next available table for your party size, before any walk-ins. IMHO, better safe than sorry with a hungry family and no seating available.

Have a great trip! :sunny:

We make PS's for at least one sit down meal per day during the summer. We find that the meal in an airconditioned environment helps to recharge us! As the above poster mentioned, you can always cancel your PS if your plans change.

Just to give you an idea of how crowded it may be....I called to make a PS for Crystal Palace for June 10 for 7 people. They had only 4:40 available for dinner. Lunch was a little more open with 11:20, 12:40, 1:20, and 2:00. More times open up, people say, when park hours come out, though.
Hope this helps!

Alright, so at least one per day...I'm half way there. Next question...Is easier to remain in each respective park to eat, I guess that's where my fear is. Missing out on park time to go from resort to resort to eat, especially not knowing our way around very well.

::MickeyMo I've never had a problem with remaining in a respective park. But in a resort we try and eat at one near that park. For example: This year we are spending the morning in AK and the evening in MK. So I made a PS for the Concourse Steakhouse in the Contemporary resort at dinner time. It all works out somehow. ::MinnieMo

Hi, neighbor, and welcome to the DIS!

We've been to WDW 3 times in June around the time you're going, and I highly recommend having at least one PS each day. As others have said, you can always cancel if you decide not to keep it.

Because the park hours are long that time of year, and given how hot it can get, we usually plan to take a late afternoon break out of the parks to rest at the resort and maybe swim. It's just too tiring to stay in the parks all day long. After we've relaxed for a while, we have dinner and go back to the park for the evening until closing. If you do that, you won't be missing any park time if you want to have dinner at a resort near the park. Even if you decide you don't need the afternoon break, it still doesn't take long to go to the resorts to dine as long as you go to one of the resorts near the park you're in.

1 ps a day works great for our family. We really dont want to be tied down to an eating sch but dont want durger/chicken all the time. This way we can have one nice sit down meal a day.

Thanks for all the great tips, I will start making some additional Ps's today. You all have incredibly helpful!
Thanks Kaycee for the welcome, I can't wait until June!! This will be our first trip (since I was 7) and we can hardly contain ourselves!!

i agree - we always make 1 ps per day.

It's easier said than done not to feel enslaved by your P.S.'s. Make them, but don't let them tie you down. Rarely do they fit into a schedule perfectly, and it's important to feel free to chuck them.

I try and have one ps per day, usually a late breakfast or late lunch. This way we have the option, esp for the late lunch, to take a break and have a nice table service lunch. I find the selection and price for the lunch menus perfect for our family. We like a nice meal and to try new foods but are not big eaters so lunch is ideal.

We do breakfast in the room, cold cereal, bagel etc, and usually a counter serve meal for dinner. I find the counter service meals getting better esp at Epcot where we tend to spend most of our eveings.

The exception is usually the Fantasmic Dinner Package, we like that option and usually choose Mama Melrose.

Check the sticky post (first post) here in the resaturants board. Not because I am too lazy to explain it but because that post tells it best!!

Two years ago, our family's first Disney Trip was to Disneyland. The Saturday night we got there, we had dinner at Goofy's Kitchen (character buffet). The next Friday night we had a nice sit down character dinner at Ariel's Grotto. The next morning before leaving, we had a character buffet breakfast at Minnie & Friends.

That was it for the sit downs. The rest of the entire week's meals were counter service. I WAS NEVER SO SICK OF EATING BEIGE FOOD IN MY LIFE. I'm not a big fruit and vegetable eater, but I was dying for fruits and vegetables.

On this trip, we have a PS (5 dinners and 3 lunches) for every day except for one. It will cost more, but I think we'll all feel better if we eat better.

On our last trip I made at least 2 and sometimes 3 PS per day. My husband really liked the fact that we had all of our meals planned so we did not waste a bunch of time figuring out where to eat.
