Can you get resort counter service meals to go?

Just curious about this.
A lady I know spoke to me about the dining plan she got for free a couple of years ago.
She said she stayed at Pop and the only option if you wanted to eat in your room is to pile the food and drinks on a tray and carry it back to your room. Either the tray or carry with your hands. There were no bags available for take out food at the food court. They only give bags to people who buy bagged treats from the gift shops. Is that true?

We're staying at POFQ and were planning to check out the counter service at POR. If I decided to bring DH something back from POR food court, do they give you bags for your cooked food, or would I be better off to bring a reusable shopping bag with me from home just in case.

I know that probably sounds stupid, but I was just wondering.

yes you can take out......Just pick up your food and if it is on a plate, ask for it to be put in a holder......Lots of people take the food back to their rooms to eat later......
We are going to FQ too and we are very excited.......can hardly wait as it is snowing right now

They have lid covers at the Food courts but I think the best way is the tray or ask for a bag or bring your own I have a large bag from one of the local malls that I bring and I take with me if I know that I am carting stuff back to the room

Thank you for replying. I'm not sure what to expect with this whole dining thing.
I'm obsessed with planning this trip, and I still have to wait until November 12. lol. It's fun to plan though.

Oh, and it's difficult to plan meals and even look at menus for me since I'm trying to lose 20 pounds. Ugh. Everything sounds so yummy.

There are stryofoam containers to carry your food. Just ask for it to go. You can bring a tray back to your room for drinks, etc.

There are so many great counter service places in resorts as well as the parks....they are trying to do healthy in a great deal of the choices..

I'm afraid to look at the food porn photos. I know they have to have great options, but wow. I feel like someone in a grocery store who hasn't eaten and wants to buy everything they see. KWIM?

I am having a total blast learning so much about WDW. I didn't realize there was so much information out there and such a variety of places to eat.

There have been a few times where my family and I would order food from the Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary and take it back to our room so we could eat it there.

A couple years ago we had counter service credits left and got sandwiches to go from the PO-FQ food court to take to the airport with us so we didn't have to buy food there. It was all packaged up for us and put in bags to make it easier to carry out.

Before the dining plan when we tried to go budget, we would get food a lot at the Value resort food courts. Just got sandwiches and took them back to the room to eat with our can drinks, chips and cookies. No problem. I think we had to ask for a bag, maybe when we paid????

At Pop Century, there are a LOT of people who are carrying food back to their rooms, especially in the mornings. You just ask for it to go and it will be put into a closed container for you. However, you are correct - you don't get a bag to put it in. You just simply take the entire tray back to your room with you. After you are done, just take the tray back to Everything Pop. You can probably even just leave the tray in your room for housekeeping to deal with but I save them the hassle and take it back myself.
