can you get adapters to interchange lens brands?

ie pentax and canon/ nikon canon/ minolta/ canon...i notice sometimes filters and stuff will list a few brands but can you get some kind of adapter to interchange lens brands and still have the electronics work? i keep seeing lens i could use but of course not canon compatible..and the canon fd won't fit on the rebel xt, correct?

Well many different types of adapters exist, just search ebay and such.
If you search for "Canon FD EOS" you will find adapters that allow you to use FD lenses on the rebel, but be advised that they are mostly "made in china" quatlity and no the "ELECTRONICS" may not be fully functional. Really you would be lucky if the camera can still meter, but any auto stopping down or focusing will not happen.
 
thanks i found a bunch with out electrical options but wondered if any with the ability to still do af, is what ever existed
 
it's much safer and less headaches if you stick with lenses made for your camera..
 

it's safe to say that the the electronics will not work and may even fry your circuitry if the adapter is not manufactured properly.
