Can you still get a passport book in the United States if you live in your RV or travel trailer and are nomadic? Housing costs is too unaffordable due to inflation and I do not want and refuse to take out a loan or borrow money and have a debt I am unable to pay in cash. The passport is so I can travel to Canada and Alaska in my travel trailer.

You could ask the local post office, since they can issue passports.

Yes. Full timers need to set up residency for all sorts of things: drivers license, voting, taxes, and passports.

Some use a friend or family members address. Others set up a domicile in an “rv full time friendly” state. Florida, Texas and South Dakota are popular for their taxes. There are businesses that will allow you to set up an address for mailings and to use as your “home address” for use as your residence.

Not sure why you would think that would ever be an issue. All you have to prove is that you are a U.S. citizen. Your birth certificate is all you need for that. I guess you need a P.O. Box or other mailing address so they mail you your passport.

If you're an American citizen, you have the right to a passport. The only exceptions would be if you were in legal trouble (certain criminal or custody issues) & considered a flight risk.

They can't discriminate just because a person is nomadic or even homeless, for that matter. No address appears on your passport as that is irrelevant. Only citizenship matters.

We RVed full time for a decade, and did a lot of research before establishing domicile. We decided to be FL residents for a variety of reasons, so we set up a domicile address with St. Brendan's Isle in Green Cove Springs. The other big one we considered was Escapees in Livingston, TX. You could theoretically get in trouble for using a friend or relative's address (though a lot of people do), and places like UPS stores as well as post office boxes are not considered domicile for all purposes. So I would strongly recommend going with one of the two I mentioned here, or there are a couple of others. You want an organization that is specifically set up for full-timers (or live-aboard boaters, which is most of St. Brendan's clientele). They're in RVer-friendly cities and states, and count as legal domicile for all purposes, from passports to voting.
