Can you get a FP for RSR if the ride isn't running?

I've seen a few posts saying the ride often opens 2-4 hours after the park. Are all the people who were lined up at opening still able to get FPs, or do they only turn on the FP machines if the ride is running?

When we went on RSR it was open when the park first opened. I think when the ride is down they don't do FP until the ride opens again. Hope this helped :)

I would guess that the rides that have FP will be open at park opening. Rides like RSR are open at park opening (at this point), so the FP machines should be turned on at that point. Most of the rides that open at a different time (later in the day) are not the ones that need a FP.

As the PP said, if the ride breaks down, then the CMs will suspend issuing FPs until the ride comes back on-line.

Right. The OP was talking about how RSR seems to break down a lot.

When I got our RSR FPs, the ride was closed until 10am, but the FP distribution started as usual at 8am. When we tried to get Grizzly River Run FPs later during the day, the ride was down and the FP machines were closed. So, it seems there are special rules on this for RSR FPs.

They haven't closed the FP distribution when RSR was closed, but this is not generally the rule for FP machines. All other ride's FP machines will close when the ride is down. I think this is a special concession for RSR racers because the FP's are usually gone by 9:30 am and distribution closes at this time anyway. So even if the ride is down in the morning, the FP distribution will begin at 8 am as usual. I'm sure this will change when the distributions last longer than 90 minutes--I hope this happens soon :thumbsup2

That is what I've experienced at other rides in the past - if the ride isn't running, you can't get a FP. I was curious about whether waiting in line for a FP for RSR would be for nought if the ride didn't open when the park opens. Thanks!
