I doubled a recipe for crockpot potato soup because last time we ate just about the whole pot and today I wanted it to last for tomorrow's dinner.

Well dh came down with a nasty stomach virus so he will not be eating tonight and probably would not be up for potato soup tomorrow.
I am hoping.... I can freeze it??

You can freeze pretty much anything, LOL! Actually, making batches of soup and freezing is pretty common! :thumbsup2 Enjoy dinner tomorrow, and feel better DH. :goodvibes

Did you add cream to it?
I make potato soup to freeze, but I only cook it up to the point where I add the cream, and then just add that when I reheat it.
I think sometimes the cream gets wonky in the freezer. (still tastes fine, just makes it look weird)

::yes:: A little watery...

thank you. I added milk not cream, but that was what worrried me some. Well, SInce I don't want it to go to waste I will go ahead and try freezing it. Cant hurt!!

I froze potato soup for my very picky DD in Dec. and she is just finishing it up this weekend, so guess it froze just fine.

I wonder if I did something wrong when I made this recently? The potatoes got all mushy after thawing it out and I just figured I couldn't freeze it because of that. :confused3

I've frozen it many times and have never had any problems with it at all.

I make big pots of soup or chili frequently and freeze individual portions in containers for my work lunches.

My oldest DD is the only picky eater in our family. She loves soups, but usually only blended up. I freeze them all the time and there is no difference after freezing. Perhaps if your veggies/potatoes are mushy when you defrost you can use a stick blender and just make a creamy soup. :goodvibes

I, too, think the potatoes go mushy after freezing and defrosting.

I make homemade hamburger/vegetable soup quite often, and this winter was the first time I ever froze any. I did not like the way it thawed out, the potatoes were mushy. I won't freeze it again.

I always freeze my potato soup. I also always add milk. :) It should be fine. I've never had a problem with mushy potatoes but maybe I dice them into bigger pieces? I'd definitely try it. I'm making potato soup very soon. Bought potatoes for it yesterday. :)
