My mom is thinking of having us book a vacation out to Tanque Verde next April but I really have no idea about it and was wondering what my fellow Dis members have to say. Is it near anything such as the Grand Canyon?Another question that I have is in the book it has down 47-71 points depending on your needs. I would imagine that is the type of room you chose. Do they do this per person, per night and is there a diffrent rate for children who are twelve years old.Any information would be great. Thanks in advance.

I was just looking TV up -- because I'm thinking about other options for vacations... I too would like to hear from anyone who has used the Concierge Collection.

It says in the book 37 - 53 / 47 -71 pts. depending upon season. But is ALSO says that the points are based per room DOUBLE occupancy. Does that mean that a 37 pt. room is really 74 pts??? We were told at time of purchase of DVC that Tanque Verde was points per room and included all your food, activities etc. But now I've read the fine print so to speak and I am thinking that for 74 pts - I'd be much better off with the "rack" rate for the room. During that season it is $270 - $355 (dbl.). At a trade "value" of $10/pt. 74 pts. would be like spending $740 for a $ 270 - 355 room (single was like $220 - $300).

Am I thinking about this wrong??? I am going to be a little PO-d if I need to double all the point values in the Conc. Coll. in order to evaluate stays....

OR does it mean that if you want more than 2 to a room you need to pay more??? That is my optimistic hope.

That is what I mean when i say that I am confused as to which way to go!Let's hear more.

...I did check into it last fall. The points listed in the book are per room, not per person. So 37 points (for example) would be the total for 2 people staying in the room. This includes all meals and activities. You may require a larger room if you have children. We were told that our 2 children would be 12 points EACH per night. For example if a larger room that would accomodate 4 was 45 points per night and you had 2 adults and 2 children in the room, the total per night charge would be 69 points....all inclusive. I thought that it seemed pretty reasonable. It is on our to do list to go to Tanque Verde someday. Being that we are only one state away. In fact we have a lot of "outside of WDW" plans on our to do list but we can't seem to break down and skip a year with "the Mouse". One note on Tanque Verde. There is no smoking/non smoking choice. All rooms are smoking optional. Thought I'd mention that in case anyone cannot handle any smoke smell. One more thing, no pets allowed, but there is a facility nearby to board your pet. Hope this helps!! :)

We went to TV this past November and truly enjoyed it. As for the points, the reply above is correct, it is per room, but they may add more points if there are more than two people in your room. The rooms are pretty big. We hae 5 people in our family and it was just fine. It had two queen size beds, a sitting room with a couch that pulled out into a bed, a fireplace, a huge picture window that looks out over the dessert, a back porch with chairs and a bird feeder that they fill up every couple of days. We had tons of birds, squirrels and other animals outside our window.

Trust me, the points are worth it! When they say everything is included, they mean EVERYTHING. The food is very, very good. The wranglers are great with the horses and teaching. The children's program was awesome.

If you have anymore questions, just e-mail me!

Check out their web site:Tanque Verde Guest Ranch

The guest ranch is in the far east area of Tucson, Arizona. Although I have never visited the ranch, I live here and could tell you about the weather. Currently, today, the temperature is 90 degrees. We started swimming in our pool around 2 weeks ago. We are getting warmer and warmer with the worst times being May-August. We started our A/C April 1. The best times for nice weather are October through March at the latest since all the activities are outside like horseback riding and hiking. This past winter was very mild; we got only one day of a light snow that did not stick. We do have mountains all around and they get snow; there is even a ski resort at the top of the Catalina Mountains called Mount Lemon.

The Grand Canyon is up in Northern Arizona, close to a day's drive (upwards to 7 hours) from the guest ranch.

PM me if you have any questions about the area.

Just wanted to put my 2cents worth of info.

Just like AZkathy I live in Tucson AZ and never stayed at the Tanque Verde Ranch. I have heard lots of good comments on the ranch. Its a great place for weddings and I think I heard they have horseback riding. Its a beautiful resort to visit. From Tucson AZ to the Grand Canyon its about 4 1/2 to 5 hours. Unknown how long from the Tanque Verde Ranch (AZkathy may be right about 7hrs from the Tanque Verde Ranch).

In my opinion the best time to come to Tucson is March and April (beginning of April). You would be looking at temps around 70's to 80's in March. In the beginning of April your looking at the 80's. If you come around the end of April your looking at about the mid 80's to the 90's. In May around the middle to the end it will hit 100 degrees. Right now we are 10 degrees above temp for this time of year.

If you can go to the Tanque Verde Ranch I have heard its a great place to visit.

PS HI AZKATHY :):bounce:

Another Tucsonan DVCer! Wow! Hi!

I was guessing with the time...it is roughly 45 minutes from Tanque Verde Guest Ranch to Interstate 10 then another 1 1/2 hour to Phoenix (I used to live right by the guest ranch and it was a miserable time driving through Tucson to get home when flying out of Phoenix to WDW!!!). Then I am guessing since it has been 20+ years since I lived in Flagstaff, but around 1 1/2 hour Phx - Flag and then then the Canyon is around 50 miles from Flag? Then, of course, you would want to stop in Sedona and look at the beauty of the scenary around there. Anyhooo, it is not a two hour drive, to say the least!

The wild flowers are wonderful during March when Minybear said it was a good time, that is for sure!!!!

Is the Ranch located by the Old Tucson Studios? The address said Speedway. Is it the other direction on Speedway? I am trying to figure out where it is.

Out by the Rincon Mountains. Far east Speedway near the Saguaro National Monument. I used to live out near Wentworth and Tanque Verde, it was just south of that on Speedway.
