Can you fax w/ cable modem or cell phones?

Does anyone know of any fax machine that runs on either of these? We do not use a a landline. TIA.

Last year, we switched to Optimum Voice through our cable company. I am still using the same fax machine that I have had for years. NO problem with it. Can't be of any more help than that, though, because my DH took care of the technical end of it!!

I have never heard of being able to use a fax machine with a cell phone,though, but wouldn't doubt we will be able to do that too at some point, if not available now.

I don't know about either of those, but I know a lot of banks will fax for you if you have an account with them, you may want to check.

I have DSL through my cable company and we are able to send faxes. I just have to plug the phone line into the fax when I'm ready to send. If I leave it connected, the faxes go into my phone's fax box. In other words, you will have to plug a land line phone in.

I don't have to unplug anything. I only have one phone number. To send a fax, I just put the paper it in the fax machine and send it!! I only receive faxes generally from two different numbers. You get caller ID with cable phone service so if I see either of those two numbers come up, I just let it ring and let the fax machine take it. If I don't recognze the number and answer the phone and hear the fax tones, I just hit the code I set up with my fax machine years ago and hang up and let the fax machine take over.

Sure. You just scan the document and e-mail the PDF. There are plenty of software pkgs. on the market that will convert incoming faxes to PDF, too.
