Can You Explain Craigslist to Me?

I have some Bone China teacups from England I want to sell on Craigslist and have never done this. Please NO snickering but I haven't a clue about this. I usually donate everything to Goodwill but I started thinking maybe I could actually make a few bucks for our disney trips? So here I am...

I signed up for an account so that's done. I have some lovely pictures of the teacups so I'm OK there. Now, is the service free? I am assuming I hide my email and then Craigslist forwards my inquiries? I also guess you meet in a neutral spot to exchange the item. Any other tips please send them along.

The service is completely free and it is recommended that you meet in a neutral area for the exchange, although I have had buyers come to my home too, but only when DH was home with me. I always specify cash only in my listings. Good luck! Craigslist is an amazing resource and I check it often when I'm looking to purchase sporting goods, used cars, furniture, etc.

I have a friend who sold a china set on Craigslist successfully. It was a full set though. For something that small you may have better luck on etsy if you can take really nice pictures.

All I can say is...be careful...

Craigslist has its' fans and non-fans (you can count me among the non-fans).

Etsy wouldn't work for a commerically produced item, but ebay would. However, then you would have to sign up for their account, get paypal if you don't already have it, and insure against possible breakage.

You can list it on Etsy if it's vintage or supplies.

Be careful on Craigslist. I have posted items on there three different times, and there is a lot of scams on there. Somehow they broke into my email and everything.

Luckily, I was smart enough to open up a separate email just for it though

Just don't reply to the responses that the purchaser is out of town but wants to pay full price and wants your name, address and telephone number to send you a bank draft or money order. These are usually scammers.

I've sold several things on Craigslist with much success. Bigger items too. I've had one guy try to scam me (wanted me to ship a push mower out of state ) but so far so good. I have two items that are hopefully being delievered tomorrow actually.

How do you think they hacked your e-mail? How did you know it was done?
