Can you drive stick?

My first and ONLY experience with the dreaded "stick shift" was when I was 16 and working p/t at Domino's Pizza.

My dad found out that I had to use my own vehicle to deliver the pizza's and he wouldn't allow me to do that . . .said I should be able to drive the Domino's truck . . .I had a 67 Mustang that he had bought for me and fixed it so it was MINT and he didn't want anything happening to it when I was delivering . . .

Sooooooooo . . .I told my manager I couldn't use my car and asked if I could drive the truck . . .All was well and fine until I got in the truck and realized it was STICK shift! I had no clue how to drive that thing! I couldn't go back in because I had 2 pizza's to deliver (in 30 minutes or less) so off I went . . .

Let me just say there were alot of unhappy drivers behind me on the road! I was grinding and bumping forward and sliding backwards . . .I was a mess!

Needless to say, I will NEVER attempt to drive stick again!

Did the pizzas get delivered in 30 minutes or less??? :jester:

No problem with a stick. I have never owned a car that wasn't.

I used to have problems in a automatic putting mu clutch foot on the breaks

I LOVE LOVE LOVE MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS!

(For those of you with bad experiences, try another "teacher"/car).

I.E. my 1st experience was my brother teaching me on his Corvette (a hundred years ago). Kept stalling out. Learned later on a VW bug and it was simple and fun. Then worked for a German car mfg. and regularly drove sticks.

It CAN be a pain in heavy traffic, but I've found it gives you more control and keeps me lLOTS more alert (downshifting to compensate for traffic, etc).

Denise < ---- drives an automatic now, reluctantly. Funny, when I sold my last manual transmission, *I* had to teach the kid in a shopping center parking lot, his parents didn't know how ;)

After I got home from germany, the only time I've needed to be able to drive is when my h and anothe guy got metal in their eyes and couldn't drive themselves.
We had to borrow a car, we had a motorcycle in Georgia, to go to Savannah. I had to drive the stick for the first time in years with two men already in bad moods. Then I had to drive them back. It was an hour each way. Not fun.

LOL!! Ummmmm well there was this other problem . . .I was pretty terrible with finding the houses and/or apartment buildings. So needless to say, one of the pizzas was really late . . .like 45 minutes . . .:p

P.S. I think people are glad I don't moonlight anymore as an EMT! I was "lost" a few times driving the ambulance too!

Ok, so I'm not good with direction! BUT, I've never been lost at WDW!

Yes, but I hated it! I had a car that was a stick and it sat in the driveway a lot.
I'll never get one again.

Why, yes I can :) When I learned to drive I learned in a VW Beetle, with 4 on the floor. I can drive a stick shift, it's really easy :)

Yes. My father wanted me to learn on one, just in case I was ever in a situation where I would have to drive a manual car. My first car was a manual VW cabriolet. Now I have an automatic and I can't say that I really miss the manual transmission (or the VW for that matter, but that's another story entirely! ) especially in this constant stop and go Jersey traffic! It's nice being able to just get into the car and drive. I am glad that I know how to drive a manual though--you never know when a situation can arise that requires you to drive one, and it has happened.
