Can you downgrade a ticket?

I purchased and 8 day park hopper ticket with an expiry and just now figured out I actually only need 6 days.
The ticket is for my cousin who only comes with us once every couple of years so it won't get used again for a very long time.

Am I going to be able to exchange it for a 6 day park hopper when we get there or can/will I have to add on the no expiry to the ticket and hang on to it for a few years? I would rather downgrade if possible.

I guess I should be more careful in my planning next time!!
