Here's what I'm wondering. Let's say I Old Key West is my "home" property and I want to stay at Saratoga Springs.

At the 11-month mark I use all my 100 points to book a room at Old Key West.

When the 7-month mark arrives, is it possible for me to check Saratoga Springs availibility, and if available, cancel my Old Key West reservation and switch to using those 100 points for my Saratoga Springs stay?

You can use your OKW points to book a stay at SSR once you are at the 7 month mark.

Yes, you can do this as you describe. The key words above is "cancel". They have to cancel your first reservation at OKW to free the points up for the second one at SSR.

So no, you cannot "double book" your points. If you follow the logic, the points are never used for more than one reservation at a time.

Granny is right, but Beware!!!!

If it is a highly desired period, there have been instances where MS has checked avalibility at a resort, started the points transfer, only to find that someone snagged the reservation before the points were moved over. DVC is looking to be able to fix this, but it has not been done yet.

THe thing that I wonder about is what happens if your points are in the process of being moved and both your original (Cancled) reservation and your desired reservation are snagged before the transaction is complete.

Thank you for the information. I was hoping that this was the case and that you aren't just locked into the original reservation once it was made.

We've had reports that the member ended up with no reservation and had to waitlist.

Unless SSR and OKW were just given as examples, does anyone think that you really have to book OKW to change to SSR at 7 months? With an exception of a GV of course!
