I am a single mom bringing my three kids DD11, DS8, DS6 with me on the Feb.12 Western cruise  . Has anyone ever gone to Palos alone? I would love to try it but I am afraid that I might stand out like a sore thumb!
Any suggestions?

Hi,
I took a cruise as a single parent this past November. I did do Palo's alone for both brunch and dinner. I am not the type of person that would go to a restaurant alone however, I did not want to miss Palo's. I am very glad I went. I first went to the brunch and my server went out of her way to make me feel so comfortable. I feel she really spent some extra time with me and we had several quick but enjoyable conversations. Before leaving Palo's I requested to have the same server for my dinner reservation. After having gone to both the brunch and dinner I would have to say I would probably not do the dinner again. I enjoyed the brunch much more than dinner and the view was beautiful. I did feel alittle out of place at dinner with so many couples and the atmosphere seemed on the romantic side. Remember this is just my opinion and you need to decide for yourself. Also you can check on the cruise meets and ask if there are any single parents that would like to dine with you. Good luck with your decision and Happy Cruising!!!!

I have never done Palo as a single, but if I needed to, I wouldn't hesitate! They will definitely make you comfortable, and you will see groups of people so it's not all romance (although there are lots of couples too). As an alternative, you might be able to find others cruising on the same date as you on the cruise meets board with whom you can link up. My husband and I linked up with a single that way when we were sailing with some friends; we invited her to join all of us and had lots of fun.

:earboy2: I am a long time solo traveler (45y, female) and have to say that Palo is one of the most comfortable "formal" restaurants I have been to. Both times I have been there the servers have been friendly and seemed very used to people dining alone.

Once I was seated by the window and the other time I was seated where I could observe the kitchen. My favorites were the lemon martini and the calamari appetizer.

Definately, DO NOT miss out on Palo just because you are the only adult in your party. Palo is not just for couples, but for all adults.

Thanks for the suggestions! The brunch sounds like a good idea for starters,It is something I really didnt want to miss, just hope I get the courage :earsboy:

Absolutely not! If you can't get a date, you can't go!

Seriously, I would think it would be a great restaurant to eat alone at. The servers are very attentive, and it's spacious, quiet, and has subdued lighting (at dinner). The brunch is really something else! I'm not sure I didn't like it more than the dinner.

And if you do have a reservation for one, and you make a friend during the cruise, just give the restaurant a call. My guess is they would be more than happy to add a second person.
