I know they made the Dining Plan available to DVC members, but what if you're renting points from a member?

Thanks!

I believe you can, have the member sign you up for it. Keep in mine it doesn't start until April 1st or later bookings. :Pinkbounc

It would probably depend on the owner and if they want to book the plan for you and deal with the extra transaction.

I may be a step behind, but when I booked my Nov. trip(not using points). The person I booked the meal plan with said that it was not available to DVC bookings, only if you booked a package.
Is it available to us now, that would be great, we loved having the meals paid for before we went, one less thing to worry about once you get there.

Dining Plan is available to DVC members for trips after April sometime.

Dining plan will be available starting in April. Sign ups start in January (hey, that's today!). There has been no official word saying that renters can get the plan too, but based on how Disney has treated renters in the past, there is every reason to believe they will be allowed in.

The difference here may be if you booked a room only ressie with CRO for a DVC property it would be treated as a room only ressie, which is not eligible for Dining Plan. Now if you rebook that with a MYW package, including tickets, you can get the dining plan.

The DVC dining plan only pertains to DVC bookings booked through Member Services.

I agree with plutolovr.
We stayed at the BCV in October on a package booked through CRO. We were able to use the Dining Plan, since we met the "package" criteria which we booked through CRO.
I am glad to see that Disney is expanding the plan to cover DVC owners. We thought it was a great deal.
Happy New Year!

Thanks for the info. I am happy to hear that we will be able to use the dining plan on our next DVC visit.
Happy New Year.

Info about the DVC dining plan is now on the DVC member website. I was there last night reading all about it. We have a trip for early February at VWL, but when we go to the BWV in late April for 13 nights, we will probably sign up and use the dining plan. We did it in September and really thought it was a good deal. We also have the DDE too.

Called Member Services on Friday and they said that a renter is entitled to the Dining Plan. We are not renting out points, but are taking some friends with us in June--2 rooms and both rooms will have the dining plan. Hope this helps.

I rent my points out. You raise a valid point about the extra work entailed in reserving this for all the people in each party. I have several guests scheduled after April 1st. I started mentioning it to my new guests but I have so many in the works it will take time to get to all of them. I did write out a lengthy explanation that I could just copy and paste I guess. I won't have a chance to try it myself until, who knows when. My own reservations are off season and usually at the last moment.

So if someone was to book into DVC using an exchange with their timeshare would they be able to get the dining plan also? I only ask since we can go through Interval International and exchange points,(if a booking/room/suite is available....HA!), and a few years ago I almost got into OKW in one of the Grand Villas.... bit Inter.Internat'l had a "ghost" or phantom booking available... it took 2 + months to fix...

However if we could get the dining plan I would try it again! And yes, I know, it is very, very, very rare to have a DVC exchange available! Wish there was a site that we could go to as timeshare owners and trade booking! "specially since we rarely get to plan a trip farther out then 2 months, and usually only 1-2 weeks. Thats why we don't own DVC! Sigh...

One way is you could use www.tug2.net or www.redweek.com to post that you wish to trade.

Another way is to contact someone who has a for rent ad on one of these sites. I traded with a couple who saw my DVC for rent ad in redweek. He offered me any HGVC for my DVC and I took him up on his offer. He stayed at the Beach Club in one of my studios for five weekdays and I got a nice 2 bdrm timeshare on Sanibel for a week. I gave him $200 to make up for the platinum season I wanted, the end of Feb-early March, and we called it a deal. They had a wonderful time and we anticipate the same. We keep a correspondence and maybe we will do the same next year.

I am planning a trip for the last week of March 2006. Last time we went, we went thro a DVC member who, I guess, we rented points from...is that how you say it? Anyways, we want to go again, and contacted the same person. We are waiting to hear back from him while he looks into what he has available on the dates we'd like. In the meantime, I have been talking to friends who are going at the same time and some who just returned; long story short, I am beginning to think I want the dining plan.

From what I am reading on this post, it seems as though it wouldn't be available to me, considering the March dates, even if the DVC club member is willing to do this for me.

Is this correct?

Yes, it starts on April 1, 2006, so no, it will not be available to you in March.

We traded (timeshare) into Old Key West (2 bedroom) for August 2006, will we be able to use the dining plan? This would be wonderful since the dining plan is such a good deal.

Do you have to purchase park passes if you rent points and book the dining plan?

I'm thinking of staying at PC or POFQ the first 4 nights of our trip, then renting points for the last 6 nights.

I'm wondering if I need to purchase tickets for both parts of the trip.
