I was wondering if you can kind of combine the 2 -- keep with your WW points, yet follow an Atkins diet plan.

Atkins is mostly protein intake, right?

If you want to lose weight on Atkins you need to have the majority of your calories from fat. I don't know how well that would work along with WW.

I imagine if you cut out your refined carbohydrates with WW program you would have good results though.

Atkins is not a low cal plan. It's really a 'no thought' plan as you just eat your allowable foods and with no need to measure or weigh --- you eat until your are satisfied. The benefit is that your 'cravings' go away and you are satisfied so much quicker.

If you were to cut out your high carb foods like bread, noodles, rice, potatoes, and sugar and focus on using most of your points on meat and allowable veggies I guess you could do it??? Your lower carb veggies would be broccolli, cauliflower, cabbage, zuchinni, mushrooms, asparagus, green beans, etc.

If you want to research low carb a little more -- I have some excellent links on the first page of my journal or also on my low carb web page [linked below].
:D

There IS someone here doing both...I'm so sorry, I forget who it was...I posed this question a couple of weeks ago. I am doing the WW plan and have done Atkins in the past. I think it is possible to combine the two. You would get far more points out of chicken, fish and lean meats than you would from bacon, cheese and fattier cuts of meat.

Also Weight Watchers does have plans that are designed for higher protein, higher carb and equal protein and carbs. It's a chart with suggested ways to use your points.

Good luck!

I am kind of doing a made up WW and Atkins combo. I don't count carbs, but I don't eat pasta, bread, potatoes or other starchy veggies after 4:00. I do eat a small salad with light dressing, steamed broccoli or another green veggie and lean meat. And I have no idea how many carbs are in my sugar free pudding with cool whip, but I will pretend they don't have any or many! ;)

Good luck!
