We just put in an offer for a small 100 point contract for BWV that is in ROFR right now. :thumbsup2 We figured it was all my DW and I would ever really need base on our past travel. We have enough points for a one week stay in a studio and we are planning to bank and borrow a years points to be able to stay at Aulani in April, 2012. :yay:

Now here's the problem. We told my DW's son what our plans are and he sent me an email saying he wants to buy in to DVC with us. He doesn't know anything about DVC but he knows he wants to go to Hawaii in 2012 and loved the pics of Aulani that we sent him. Money is not an issue with him. ;)

If he bought points at BWV and we all decided to go to Aulani in 2012, could we combine our points for a two bedroom stay ??? :confused3

I'm so confused.

One of you could transfer their points to the other member and you could use those for a stay together- or you could each get a number of nights with your own membership and have the nights linked together.

Thank you for a quick answer. I was hoping it worked that way. Now to pass ROFR. :rolleyes1

My parents and I do it all the time. My parents own a 170 point contract at SSR. I own a 200 point contract at AKV. We've done a couple of 2 bedroom stays. The way we always do it is that we'll split the stay. We'll book say the first 4 nights using my parents points and the last 4 nights using my points. To make it easier, my parents listed me as an associate on their contract. This way, I can book the whole reservation myself.

BUT, you can't transfer banked points and you can't borrow borrowed points. You can transfer borrowed points, but what you transfer cannot be used until the following year. So it won't do any good for your stepson to transfer points to you or you to transfer to him. You would only have current year points to use.

another thought I just read about, would be once you 'close'..and $$ not an option...have him buy in as well, with you as a referrer....you would then get a kick back from disney for the refer....that is if he did buy......

we're in the same boat as you @ rofr...ours went 7/12...I read that someone passed that was sent in on 7/8, so we're getting closer!!!

But before you bank you could transfer the points and then bank them. But it looks like you cannot borrow transferred points. So it looks like linking a reservation would work the best. Good luck on getting anything at Aulani at the 7 month mark. Until all of the phases are open it might mean a very limited number of villas will be available and those could all be booked by Aulani owners. But of course, we too hope to do the same thing. :thumbsup2

I'm not sure if New York allows that.... I know some states don't. In New York State, they want your money and they don't like it when you actually make money. ;)

Good luck passing ROFR. :thumbsup2 Ours wasn't submitted until 7/26..... so we have about two more weeks to wait. :sad2:
