Now I don't remember if it was ok at a certain point in the pregnancy or not? I know that some people are against it but my roots are way too obvious at this point.
All my hairdressers did. I think way back when there was some concern but not reciently. If you are really worried, I'd just to a highlights or foils where the dye doesn't actually touch your scalp.
There are some that say don't do it at all while pregnant and some that say not for the first 3 months...
I colored and permed my hair through all 3 of mine and never had any problems with my kids. There was no way I was going "natural" in the hair department!
When I was pregnant, I was advised by both my doctor and my hairdresser not to do it - and I only get highlights, it was not considered any safer. But, I believe they now do have something that is not toxic so it's much safer. It doesn't last as long and, unfortunately, I can't remember the name of it. I'd ask your hairdresser and then double-check with your OB-GYN. Why take a risk?
I specifically have brought this up with my OBGYN several times, and she said best not to do it in the first trimester (more because the fumes can make you really sick in addition to morning sickness).
Everyone I know who was pregnant did it and had no trouble though, so I tend to think it would be OK, but talk to your doctor.
My dr said not until at least the second trimester,.....I actually didn't do it at all since I didn't like the idea of chemicals seeping into me while pregnant....but I also was sure to not eat any food with artificial sweetners, no caffiene, no alcohol, not going near smokers...the whole 9 yards LOL!!! By the time I had my daughter my hair was reddish on the bottom half and the top half was brown LOL....
