Now I don't remember if it was ok at a certain point in the pregnancy or not? I know that some people are against it but my roots are way too obvious at this point.

All my hairdressers did. I think way back when there was some concern but not reciently. If you are really worried, I'd just to a highlights or foils where the dye doesn't actually touch your scalp.

There are some that say don't do it at all while pregnant and some that say not for the first 3 months...

I colored and permed my hair through all 3 of mine and never had any problems with my kids. There was no way I was going "natural" in the hair department!

Yes - you can.

It's an old wives tale - the dye doesnt enter your blood stream, or anything else...

I only did highlights while pregnant but only because my skin was so sensitive while I was pregnant-to waxing, hair color, etc.

I know there are some hairdressers out there who won't do it.

Yes, you can. The prenatal nurse mentioned this. I didn't bring it up....was she trying to tell me something? :rotfl:

When I was pregnant with DD (15 now) I was given a list of do's and dont's. I remember the hair coloring was a no until the second trimester.

When I was pregnant, I was advised by both my doctor and my hairdresser not to do it - and I only get highlights, it was not considered any safer. But, I believe they now do have something that is not toxic so it's much safer. It doesn't last as long and, unfortunately, I can't remember the name of it. I'd ask your hairdresser and then double-check with your OB-GYN. Why take a risk?

I colored mine while pregnant. I couldn't imagine being bloated and having bad roots all at the same time. It would have been to much for me to bear.:)

I specifically have brought this up with my OBGYN several times, and she said best not to do it in the first trimester (more because the fumes can make you really sick in addition to morning sickness).

Everyone I know who was pregnant did it and had no trouble though, so I tend to think it would be OK, but talk to your doctor.

I didn't do it the first time, but I did the second time. My second child is much more "normal"...go figure.

I think it's more the fumes than anything else. Get colored in a well-ventilated area and wear a mask if you can. I think you'll be fine.

I didnt use color when I was pregnant but I did perms. My OBGYN said it was ok after the 1st trimester. So far, my kids act normal....... :teeth:

Not only did I color my hair, but I colored other peoples-I was a Colorist while I was pregnant with DS.

Kae

My dr said not until at least the second trimester,.....I actually didn't do it at all since I didn't like the idea of chemicals seeping into me while pregnant....but I also was sure to not eat any food with artificial sweetners, no caffiene, no alcohol, not going near smokers...the whole 9 yards LOL!!! By the time I had my daughter my hair was reddish on the bottom half and the top half was brown LOL....

I did and other then the 3 eyes my kids are pretty normal

(Just kidding, I didn't start coloring my hair until after the twins were born so I have no idea).
