Can you change dates of rented pts

We want to rent points for a stay at BWV this summer. We are pretty sure we want 7/30-8/4. However, what if at the last minute we couln't make those dates. Can we use the points we rented for a later date?

You are limited by what is available at any given time. DVC is usually fully booked quite a ways out, so don't necessarily count on a change being possible. Also....If you want to change less than 30 days ahead of your reservation, the owner of your points will be put in a terrible bind. The points used would be compromised, and would go into "holding" status. That could cost the owner you rented from. Hopefully whomever you rent from will have a contract spelling all of this out. Each of us has a specific "use year" that will determine our banking windows etc. Frankly, if you were calling me to rent points and had these questions, I'd probably consider you a high risk renter, and would look to market my points with someone else.

Thanks for writing back to me. We are DVC owners, but have used all our points for this year (and next)!! We've rented once before and it worked great. I just didn't know if once you rented, and decided to change the dates, if you could do that before the end of the use year of the person who rented them to you. Does that make any sense? I think your suggestion, though, is to rent when we are certain of our plans. We would definitely not want there to be any inconvenience for the person renting to us.

It sounds like you rented a reservation, your can't rent points unless it's a transfer. The rules and availability stay the same for your rented reservation but as you know, the person that you rented from has to make the changes and has to be willing to do so.

With the money that you are spending renting, have you considered that it may be time for a resale add-on?

No, those of the original home resort and use year.

That's an excellent suggestion since you are already a member. Just be sure the use year of the transferred points will work for you.

Remember, you can bank transferred points, but you cannot borrow transferred points.
