Can you call disney and ask for a discount

You can all at any time to make a general inquiry about discounts or see if any pins are attached to your name, but you can't do anything with your reservation. When you book through a TA, that TA "owns" your reservation until you check in, so Disney will not discuss anything with you regarding that reservation. If there happens to be a pin attached to your name, you will have to notify your TA and your TA will have to call Disney to check availability and have the pin applied to your reservation (pending availability).

Of course your TA can call to check for discounts. A good TA will do this automatically.

I actually think it is a huge pro to working with a TA- especially a Disney Vacation Specialist, where they only book Disney vacations. I have not needed to do anything so far and she has gone above and beyond for me. Got me free dining at POFQ when we were originally booked at Pop w/ free QS. Got on the phone at 7am to do all of that while everyone was on hold for hours that day. It is much better than doing it all myself when I work all day and don't have time to sit on the phone.

me too! I am using one for the first time this trip and she's great!

This is why I won't use a TA. I don't like giving up control and having to hope that the TA does their job. There is ONE TA I would trust but that is because I know her outside of her job and I know she is a huge Disney fan as well. Otherwise, heck no. Let me have control.

I'm of the same thought. I prefer to make my own arrangements. I'm on the DIS daily when I have an upcoming trip and know I'm up to date for any discounts I want that might come out.

I just booked a room yesterday by calling Disney. I won't do that again. The guy was nice and everything, but even though he knew I had been many times, he was acting like he was dealing with a newbie. I told him from the beginning, very emphatically, I want a room only reservation.

Then he's trying to get me to talk about the dining plan (which I don't like and knew I didn't want), tickets (which I already have), and other cross-selling techniques.

He did his job well, but knowing what I'm doing, from now on I'll just book online. It was a 20 minute call to do what I could have done online in 2 minutes. I just thought it would be nice to give a CM a quick reservation credit. Never again.
