I was at WDW May 13-14 and hoped to get a shirt, too. There is no vmk merchandise at all. Not even in VMK Central in the MK. Who would have thought Disney would ever miss an opportunity to sell merchandise?????
Whenever I asked for vmk stuff in the shops in MGM, AK, or Epcot, the CMs looked bewildered. They hadn't heard of VMK. Once I explained, they said since it was a virtual magic kingdom, it should only be in the MK.
You can do quests and get virtual rewards. They will ask you three questions when they collect your finished quest, before you get your cards. I was asked to draw a monitor lizard; to explain what is the difference between a meteoroid, a meteor, and a meteroite (location); and to say what is the fastest selling item in Expedition Everest shop in AK (I guessed right because I coveted the snowboard t-shirt). They'll give you plenty of second chances if you don't know the answers. I think they make up different questions for each guest.
You can bring a pirates win coupon to get a plastic vmk bracelet (sized fairly small). You can buy a hat at the hat shop on main street and get virtual gold ears. (Or you can hang around the register for a minute until someone else is buying a hat or two, then ask them for their cards while they are paying.

I think that is about everything. Those who go more frequently may know better.
So now I am eyeing the shirts online.
