Shipping for me is usually around $35 for me, but you can calculate it before you hit pay.

Duty is based on how much you buy plus the UPS fee.

If you are going on a trip soon, I always order online (from multiple websites as well as Disney) and have orders delivered to our resort - lot of them have free or cheap shipping with your order. Then I don't have to pay duty, and just take it home with me.
If you're not travelling anytime soon, I guess you would have to weigh how much you want an item and if it's worth it to pay the duty.

Just so you know the only thing you can't order via Disney Store on line even if you do send it to the hotel id Disney Gift Cards.

This is what we do. I usually order new disney pajamas and a tshirt for the boys to wear down there.
