Can you buy fireworks in your state?

Believe it or not with 1200 wildfires in this state you can buy the safe & sane type, but not the type that fly or explode.
The Governor has asked everyone to avoid buying or using them this year due to the fires we already have and the strain on the resources.

No fireworks in MA.

We're liberal enough to recognize gay marriage, but not enough to believe citizens are smart enough to handle fireworks properly.

In Florida we've got fireworks, but not gay marriage.

Given my choice, I'd have what you have hands down!

Usually, yes, you can buy and use fireworks here. This year they are banned because we are in severe drought and severe fire hazard.

You can buy the good fireworks in FL (although not in some cities), but it's still illegal to use any that fly or explode (firecrackers, mortar shells, etc). Growing up we would stock up and have a big show in our front yard. The cop cars would always pull up...because they liked to watch :lmao:

So funny story about last night. When we are home, my macaw normally is allowed off his perch to play, and he likes to sleep on the ironing board in the laundry room. He's normally asleep by no later than 7pm or so. The problem is, he's petrified of fireworks.

So last night as I'm on the computer, I've got the macaw attached to my arm and refusing to get down, the african grey sleeping on my shoulder (that's her bedtime spot until I put her in her cage), a cat trying to climb on my lap, and the husband calling me every 10 minutes to change movies for him because he sprained his ankle and couldn't decide what DVD he wanted to watch

Nope -- but it is VERY tempting to make a 50 mi. run to New Mexico where you can buy pretty much anything short of weapons-grade plutonium...

I live on the MO side of IL, so we can go to MO and pick up fireworks, or we can get a permit and drive 6 miles east and buy whatever we want. The fireworks have been going all day here. Started just before noon with the noise makers. It's a nice cool night, so with the windows open we can hear them very well. I don't mind it, since it's just once a year. :)

It was surprisingly quiet here last night! I'd commented on it to DP, who implored me not to "jinx" it by talking about it. There were some firecracker pops and a screamer or two, but that's it.

Huge change from last year when we really thought something (like our roof!) was going to be set on fire.

Must be there was a crackdown. Good for it, I say. I am a firm believer that fireworks only belong in the hands of people trained to use them!

Some of you said You can buy then in PA....but we can't!!! You have to show your license and if it is a PA one you are SOL. We can buy things that don't leave the ground.

In my town it does not seem to stop anyone. There was so much smoke you would think the entore town was on fire.
