Can you buy AP to "start" at a later date?

I know thats a wierd question but if you could buy them now to start when you arrive at Christmas-you go right to the parks when you arrive. And you may not want the clock to start on them in case you want to come back 11 months later. Or maybe the clock starts the first time you use them? Thanks for any input. Also wondering the best discount on AP.

If you buy over the phone or from your local Disney Store, you will get a voucher, not an actual pass. When you get to WDW, you exchange the voucher for an actual pass at a guest relations or ticket window. The date you get the actual pass is the start date. I believe the only discount for AP's is Disney Club.

Does that mean if I buy an AP from their WEB site it has a different start date or do I still get a voucher?

We are going this Nov and next Oct so we are buying an AP to save money on next years trip. I hate to buy one now that starts now!!!
