We are staying at the dolphin hotel this year and therefore will not have the ddp and paying out of pocket. Since we plan on having a table service dinner every night, I was wondering if there is any way to save on some meals. If we can't get the TIW card, do any restaurants give a AAA discount?

A DVC member can buy a TIW card without an AP. Otherwise some restaurants have AAA discounts I forgot those that do, but I due remember its mostly at lunch though. Try checking mousesavers or all ears they might have a list.

The only people that can purchase a TIW card are AP holders, DVC members, and FL residents.

OK thanks, I will check mousesavers to see if some restaurants accept AAA. No big deal, just looking for some ways to save on all the meals we need to eat out.

We were able to use AAA at several of the Swolphin non-signature restaurants last year (but I think for food only, not booze) TIW worked for the signatures & on liquor.

My father is a DVC member. We however aren't staying in a DVC resort for my next trip. Could he purchase one for me?

No, it's only for the DVC member and his name would be on the card, so he'd have to be there to use it.

I'm pretty sure you don't have to be staying at a DVC resort, but your father must be dining with you to use the card.

Another way to save is Restaurant.com. I've seen some Swolphin restaurants on there. As for WDW restaurants - pretty much full price, sorry.

You don't need to be staying at DVC, but you must be a member to purchase the card. (Unless you are an AP holder or FL resident) If you reside at the same address, your father could buy you an AP, or add you as the secondary card on the TIW, but you would need the be living at the same address. And he would have a TIW at normal price, and yours would be an extra $50.

Some restaurants have asked to see ID when I showed them the TIW card, and others have just taken it no questions asked. But the TIW terms say valid for the cardholder and guests only.

This is a good suggestion. I've seen some DTD restaurants on Restaurant.com as well:)
