We have had a special connection with the (now retired) Pastor of our church... he has married my fiance's parents, baptized many of his cousins, our daughter and been a wonderful friend and confidant to us through the years. He never gave up on us when everyone else did... He was always there to support us. We always said, when it's time, we want him to marry us... he said yes. I just want to make sure he can do the ceremony in Disney... we are looking at Sea Breeze Pointe... although, the more I think about it, the more I would like to do it in the Pavillion... but I don't know if that will put us too far over budget... we are having a custom wedding with probably 60-75 guests... Most importantly, I want to make sure he can marry us... I wasn't sure if we had to choose one of the Disney pastors... if that's the case, we'll get married someplace outside Disney and then go inside for the reception...

Thanks for all your help so far guys!!! I truly appreciate it!! :daisy: :flower1: :jumping3:

Yes, you can bring your own pastor. I think it’s a wonderful idea since you have such a great history with him.

:cool1: :cool1: YES! This is the answer I was looking for on another thread. I was hoping the answer was yes!

Now I just have to wait another 2.5 years to do it! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

My stepbrother is going to marry us. Make sure that they can legally marry you in Florida though. I am not sure what that entails.

Hadn't thought of that. I'll definately have to look into that. Can't imagine that he couldn't.

Thanks for the info.

I just noticed that you were from Marksville, LA. I used to live there and my family still lives there. Wow, it's a small world :) Anyways, we are planning our VR for May 31, 2007 at the GF Wedding Pavillion and Reception at Citricos.

Good Luck on your planning!!

How long ago did you live there ilubwdw2? I've been in Avoyelles Parish for 15 years now.

As far is the VR...sounds like fun. I want to do ours at Epcot at the Isola in Italy. Still working on prelims...

Hi, I'm getting married at Disney World in March next year. I was just wondering how it worked out having a pastor not familiar with Disney Weddings? Was there anything confusing for him?

I also have a close pastor friend, and it would also help keep the budget down.

Thanks! :goodvibes

We brought our own pastor from California (but it didn't really keep the budget down cuz we paid for his airfare and hotel :cutie: ).

Disney weddings are just like regular weddings - there's not really anything special they have to know. At our rehearsal, our WP told us where to stand and how to walk, and then our pastor just took over and talked us through the ceremony.

Our pastor rode the bus in with all the guests, so he got all the same transport info that they did. In fact, Disney considered him just another one of our guests.

It's great that you have someone you can bring. We felt our ceremony was extremely personal and meaningful because it was conducted by someone who knew us. :goodvibes

:cheer2:

Wow! You replied so fast! I'm so excited. DF reads DisBoards every day and is always telling me to post. I think that was my first post, too!

Thanks for the info! That answers a really important question for me.

Lurkyloo, I just watched your pix and got the warm fuzzies! I'm that much more excited for my DisWedding!

Hi all... I was married last April (one year on Monday!:goodvibes ) in Disney and we brought our own priest. Before he was able to marry us, he had to fill out some paperwork with the local Catholic dioscese. He looked up what had to be done and handled everything. And as someone said before, it worked out great with him. The WP handled all the other details, and he walked us through the actual ceremony.

We are having an ordained friend officiate. Some states require officiants to register at the county clerk's office to provide proof of ordination. I asked an attorney friend to check on Florida's marriage laws. After a quick search, she emailed this back to me:
All regularly ordained ministers of the gospel or elders in communion with some church, or other ordained clergy, and all judicial officers, including retired judicial officers, clerks of the circuit courts, and notaries public of this state may solemnize the rights of matrimonial contract, under the regulations prescribed by law.

So, apparently, non-Florida officiants don't have to register. We are going to double check on this next month at our site visit, but bringing your own officiant is totally doable.

Ours is an ordained minister in California; he didn't have to register in Florida to perform our ceremony. :thumbsup2

Thanks, all! This is very informative!

Another question, who is the best of the Disney recommended officiants?

I'm not sure if my friend will be available to marry us.
