Can you bring drinks/snacks into Universal?

We usually bring a backpack w/bottled waters, munchies to WDW. Can we do the same at Universal?

Yep.
Though this year during mardi grad (and onsite filming of sharknado 3) they wouldn't let waters in. But that's over now.

glass bottles or containers are not allowed in the parks.

My trip to Florida in 2013 was my first time as an adult, and our first stop was Universal. We bought a Gatorade at the hotel and walked to the Studios (we were at RPR). As we got to the security checkpoint (which looks like an ice cream cart! haha), I assumed I would have to throw away the drink because it was open and could theoretically contain alcohol. I was pleasantly surprised to be told I could keep it.

don't know if gatorade is glass or plastic bottle.
2 years ago some of the rules that are in place now, weren't back then.

OP if you bring a backpack remember that you'll need to store it in a locker for many rides
That's different from wdw where you can take backpacks on rides. At universal you can't
