Carrying alcohol onboard the aircraft
Current security directives permit only three ounces or less of liquids or gels to go through security screening in one, quart-size, clear plastic, zip-top bag. With the exception of medications, any amount of liquid, including alcohol, greater than three ounces must be packed in your checked baggage.

However, after passing through the security checkpoint, you may now bring liquids and other items purchased in the secure boarding area onboard the aircraft.

If purchased in the secure boarding area, JetBlue will allow alcoholic beverages not more than 24% alcohol by volume, or more than 24% by volume and not exceeding 70% alcohol by volume, when in retail packages, not exceeding a total quantity of five liters per person.

Carrying Alcohol in Checked Baggage
Alcoholic beverages with more than 70% alcohol content (140 proof), including 95% grain alcohol and 150 proof rum, are not permitted in your checked baggage.

You are allowed to take up to five liters of alcohol with alcohol content between 24% and 70% per person as checked baggage if it's packaged in a sealable bottle or flask.

Alcoholic beverages with less than 24% alcohol content are not subject to hazardous materials regulations.

Domestic Flights
Customers over the age of 21 may bring up to five liters of alcohol per person. Alcohol may not exceed 70% (140 proof) alcohol by volume.

The limit to alcoholic beverages that contain less than 24% alcohol (i.e. wine, beer, etc.) are only restricted by our baggage size and weight requirements. Please note, with the current ban on liquids in carry-on baggage through security, alcoholic beverages that are being carried on a flight must be purchased in the secure boarding area (after going through the security checkpoint). However, JetBlue will not be liable for damage, loss or spoilage of these items.

You may bring wine, champagne or beer on a flight for consumption during the flight if it is in an unopened container. If you’d like to drink the alcohol you carry on, you may give it to one of our Inflight crewmembers, and they will be happy to serve it to you.

All carry-on or checked articles must meet the above applicable requirements.

We have wrapped wine in bubble wrap and a put the bottles small garbage bag. Then placed the wine in a plastic tote box and packed our clothes around the box and ask the airline SWA to put a fragile sticker on our bag. Never had an issue. Then we use the box and bubble wrap to bring home things we have bought on our trip.

Hey, thanks . . .
Looks like "serve" in the FAR doesn't mean purchase from the airline. Whether or nor a JB FA would serve a nip if requested in a question not answered.

To the PP wondering about an airline providing Bloody Mary mix . . . most airlines will gladly sell you a nip.

Yes but they are then selling you a Bloody Mary with the nip already in. Unless you would consider this a Virgin Mary. :scratchin

From the voice of experience... They usually give you a can of mix along with the nip so you can mix it yourself. FWIW I have seen people order just the mix to drink. Not sure I understand that. :confused3

For the same reason that some people buy spicy V-8 to drink??? Wouldn't be my first choice, but I enjoy the taste, alcohol or no.

Last time I ordered the Bloody Mary mix for breakfast the FA remarked about starting my day with a 3/4s of my daily salt allotment. I looked at the label and handed it back to him. I forget how many years ago that was.

Chartle, that is a list of the drinks you can have a no charge hence the word complimentary. Some people like Bloody Mary mix without the booze( it is tomato juice with a bit of a kick). Some people like tomato juice without booze, just like people like coke without Jack.

Cause it is tasty.

Bloody Mary mix is non alcoholic. Just tomato juice and spicy stuff. It is a free drink on the plane without the vodka.

Mrs. T's only has 990mg of salt, approx. 41% of your salt in a 5.5 oz. can. Pretty hefty on the salt, but, since I don't use salt, I think I would be ok with it once now and then.

I do. I'd rather have a Virgin Mary without all the chemicals in Mr & Mrs T's, but sometimes you make do with what's available. I like the spiciness, but if a time of day I'm comfortable drinking then I've been up a long time and I still have to drive at my destination.

Hence the need to add a dilutant...

Looks like I may have touched off a "lively" discussion here.
After showing the DW, she opted for us to go the more discrete route, and while we were out today we purchased some of those 3 ounce travel bottles that are translucent. These were just now filled with Takka, 100 proof for our flight out tomorrow morning.

We may wait to indulge until our DFW-MCO leg.

Did you know that 5 of those flip-top bottles will fill a one-quart TSA Victory Baggie? It's almost a blivet at that point, but that should be enough to get us though until we can purchase whatever at the Walgreens just outside of USO/IOA on Monday.

Sure wish we were going to the "World", but the wife put her foot down. We did DL last year.

I think I'll have a(nother) Bloody Mary whilst I print out our boarding passes.
Ciao!

Just nothing more than 140 proof, It seems that the airlines consider it hazardous material.
