Have an ADR at Cape May for my DD's 12th b-day and wanted to order one of those mini wedding cakes as her b-day cake to pick up at the Boardwalk Bakery to bring (Couldn't find anything on the cake chatter thread about getting this type of cake through the Beach Clubs private dining otherwise I would order from them). Is it allowed to bring an outside cake into a restaurant or this a no no? Please advise. Thanks.:goodvibes

There was a post awhile back that went something like this:

Poster wanted a special cake for a birthday child. Decided to save some money by purchasing the cake at the Boardwalk Bakery, taking it to Chef Mickey's and asking the restaurant to hold the cake in the kitchen, then bring it out with lit candles, present it to the birthday child, and serve the cake.

What ended up happening was: she was allowed to bring the cake into the restaurant. But they would not allow it to be kept in the kitchen; she had to keep it at the table. The restaurant would not provide staff to present or serve the cake, or plates/utensils to cut and serve the cake (these could be gotten from the buffet); nor would they supply birthday candles. Even though the poster had purchased the cake at WDW.

So the answer is quite likely that you can bring the cake as long as you are prepared to keep it at the table, cut and serve it yourself; and bring your own candles and probably something to light them with.

That's good to know. I wasn't planning on having it kept in the kitchen or having it brought out (dd will be with us when we pick it up anyway so no need to surprise--the trip to WDW itself is the surprise). I can bring my own candle not a big deal (hopefully they will allow us to light it). I just want to make sure she can have it after her dinner. For some reason dd is obsessed with wedding cakes (loves to watch those cake decorating shows). She was disappointed when we went to a wedding this summer and the wedding cake was just a "dummy" cake and was not being served. So I thought she'd love one of those mini wedding cakes as her birthday cake.:thumbsup2

By dummy cake I'm assuming its one of those highly decorated fake cakes where they put a little bit of real cake in a spot for the Bride and Groom to "cut" and then once they are done pieces of sheet cake are served. :thumbsup2

I am sorry, but this made me giggle.

You light the candles & uh-oh...(hear the sirens) here comes the Disney po-po cause you are being a pyro.

I hope your daughter has a fab birthday! princess:

I just had a birthday cake from Boardwalk Bakery at Kouzzina last week. My DD went and picked it up before I got there and they kept it back in the kitchen and brought it out with candles and all. I would call the restaurant and ask.
